Cervical stenosis/hysterectomy
Hi Sisters,
Just wondering if anyone out there has had a hysterectomy due to a stenotic cervix? In 2011 I had a cone biopsy, hysteroscopy and D&C for cin3 (pre cancerous cells) . Since the surgery I have had months of intermittent mid cycle spotting, mid cycle heavy bleeding (for days on end) , cramping, lower back and abdominal pain. All this is due to my cervix being tighter. It's not completely closed over, but is causing me more pain and bleeding every month. Long story short my gyno finally suggested a hysterectomy last week. I knew it was on the cards, and he was very honest with me when I had the cone biopsy and told me this might be an outcome if I got cervical stenosis. I'm 99% certain about going ahead with the surgery. I know the pros are no more pain, bleeding and it will definitely eliminate any more cells growing back I'm also petrified about my post sex life. I probably shouldn't have read the posts about "no more orgasms". Aaahhhhhhhh. I'm booked in to sign all the paperwork on Friday. Call me crazy , but I'm having second thoughts. If I put it off, I'm also putting off the inevitable. My cervix is not going to improve. Aahhhhhhh. Thanks for listening sisters.

Re: Cervical stenosis/hysterectomy
I had stenosis of the cervix, but that is not why I had my hysterectomy. My understanding was the cervix was closed almost all the way, so he could not do a pap. He said it was not that uncommon. He tried to get in there and do a pap, but I had a vagal response (almost fainted). As far as I know the stenosis of the cervix did not cause any symptoms. My symptoms, pain and bleeding, were from fibroids. When I got on the operating table, they did a hysteroscopy first, to check for cancer, since they could not do a pap. They checked the cells while I was still out. When they came back negative they went ahead with the davinci. If they had found cancer the hysterectomy would not have been done then because they would have rescheduled with a gynonc. So anyway, long story short, I am not aware of cervical stenosis causing any adverse symptoms, just an inablity to get a pap. Maybe someone else can chime in here with more info. As far as marital relations, my hysterectomy has not had a huge effect on that. I am a bit early on and not going all out, but still taking it a bit slow, but everything seems to be in fine working order. From what I have read stenosis can cause issues like PID and endo if the menstrual blood backs up and cannot escape. However, that was not may case beause I had severe bleeding and clotting before surgery.

Re: Cervical stenosis/hysterectomy
Hi Dejahthoris 78,
I had an ultrasound last month, and no fibroids or cysts were found. My bleeding has been caused by the stenotic cervix, hence the recommendation for the hysterectomy. Im hoping others can shed some light on this issue aswell. I spoke with my gyno last night and he said he dose'nt recommend surgery lightly and considering my history with the bleeding and cramping he suggested it. will keep you posted after fridays meeting
cheers
