Should I Keep Cervix?

Hello All!
I have been talking to a few people on here for a little over a month now. I was still trying to decide if I should have a hysterectomy or not. I made the final decision yesterday after having on ultrasound done at the dr.'s office. I got together with everyone and we decided May 23rd was the best time to do it. I am writing this just to talk with some people about they are feeling as well before surgery and for those who have already had it to give me some info and tell me things to expect and that may change after surgery. I would appreciate anyones advice or response to this post.
Thank you

Just got surgery date

Hello Sunshine24

I feel like we are sisters already! My surgery (TAH) is scheduled for May 23rd also. Mine was delayed "until I had time for it". I had gotten so use to the pain that I just kept putting it off. I have been dx with "complex" cysts on both ovaries and numerous fibroids. My uterus is the size of a 16 week pregnancy. After my last ulttrasound my biggest fibroid had increased 2 cm and one of my cysts (left) .5 cm. I guessed which one it was because of the increase in pain on my left side. My sister and another friend have both had hysterectomies so I'm getting all kinds of advice.

Good luck to you!

Should I Keep Cervix?

Hi Sunshine,
I had thought for quite sometime that a hysterectomy would be in my future but I tried to ignore it for as long as I could. I didn't want the hassle of recovery but the hassle of the monthy got to be too much to ignore. Before the Dr gave me the ok for surgery I was all for it, now that the date is looming I have second thoughts. That is until my "special friend" comes visiting. It is strange to think that this is the last time said friend will visit me

Hello "sister"

i am nervous about the surgery and still trying to make all the last minute decisions. I have pretty much figured everything out except whether or not to keep my cervix. I was trying to ignore my pain too. I just figured it happened sometimes and tried to make myself believe it was no big deal. But now the pain is getting worse and I'm finding my self avoiding sex because I'm worried about the pain. I just want to be back to having sex without worries. Thats great your getting advice from people close to you. My mom had a partial hyst, they just removed her ovaries and fallopian tubes so she has a little input but I'm having my uterus and possibly cervix removed too. Good luck with yours and keep in touch

Should I Keep Cervix?

Thank you. I definately could use the support and information because I dont have much of a support system at home. My family is all out of state and DH and I are presently having problems so I'm even more stressed about having this surgery during these times but I'm hoping that with the surgery, I will be stressed about one less thing
