Upcoming hysterectomy 8/1: How bad is the pain?

Pms hit, cramps so bad that caused choosing hysterectomy but now I’m scared, how bad the pain will be after (robotic vaginal lap, leaving ovaries. If I am parting like labor now, what then? I’m a single mom and no real help. Surgery 8/1. I’m allergic to painkillers.

I had very little pain. I never had any narcotics, they were giving me Tylenol and toradol in my iv, and once they took it out later that evening, I didn’t take anything else. It’s a very individual thing, but there are several women here who have had very little pain during their recoveries.

There is no way to tell your pain levels until after surgery. I was lucky and really didn't have any pain but others need narcotics for a little while to control their pain.

If you are experiencing that much pain now, the pain associated with the surgery might not be as bad for you. My experience was I had a fair amount of pain the first couple of days after surgery, but by the third or fourth day, my pain was less than what I was experiencing before surgery. I had divinci robotic surgery and was released just a few hours after surgery. Good luck with your surgery.
