Upcoming surgery 10/11: Post hysterectomy bleeding - what to expect

What should I expect for post op bleeding? Like a long period? How many pads should I have? Or none? I'm having a laproscopic hysterectomy and they are planning on taking my uterus, cervix, and fallopian tubes. Maybe my ovaries depending on how they look or what they find.

Upcoming surgery 10/11: Post hysterectomy bleeding - what to expect

There is really no way of knowing how much bleeding/spotting there will be. Generally, there will be some bleeding right after surgery, but how long it will last is different for each person. I stopped bleeding after the first day, but started spotting on day 11 because I was doing too much. I also experienced quite a bit of discharge. Not necessarily large amounts, but for a long time. I wore panty liners up until my 13th week. Not everyone experiences this. As I said, I did way too much my first two weeks after surgery and paid for it throughout my recovery

It’s important to know the difference between Spotting and Bleeding after Hysterectomy. While spotting is considered normal throughout the initial 6 week recovery period, heavy bleeding after the first few days should always be reported to your doctor.

Good luck!

Re: Post op bleeding-what to expect

tomorrow will be 2 weeks after my TLH removing everything, ovaries and cervix I also have a vagnial cuff and I had a tiny amount of bleeding on the day of the operation and not a single drop nor discharge since.

I was in hospital for 5 days including the surgery day (they are VERY cautious here in Switzerland) and so literally did nothing apart from hourly walks around the hospital and since I have been home I've had a cleaner and have been REALLY careful not to do anything that might cause any problems...

Everyone is different.

I had my surgery laparoscopically with cervix, ovary and tube removal along with adhesions and endometriosis on Sept 13th. I have had spotting every day, been using pantyliners. I'd bought regular pads but haven't needed them.

I had spotting for about 2 days. I have had very little discharge. I had a pack of pads but after I left the hospital I was more comfortable wearing depends because I had a hard time making it to the bathroom due to my pain and exhaustion for about the first week.

Definitely and I suggest being sure to go bigger rather than smaller. I went with a size that I wasn't the very bottom of the weight so they weren't tight.
