Re: Period on the day of hysterectomy
I had my last period on surgery day too. I had asked my doctor about being on my period the day surgery and if i would have to reschedule surgery. She said no. My doctor came in to see me the morning of surgery. I told i was on my period and she said no problem. It seem to be pretty common.

Re: Period on the day of hysterectomy
I was curious about this, too. My periods are somewhat random and last for over a week, so there is a good chance that I'll have mine on the day of the surgery (April 10).

Re: Period on the day of hysterectomy
Since a majority of us have this surgery for long and heavy periods, chances are we will be bleeding on surgery day.On my date I had light bleeding and was given a pad and underpants when changing into hospital gown.I was glad it was not heavy though because I was laying on pre op bed with iv for over an hour.On my heavy days ,I would have to be unhooked at least three times.

Re: Period on the day of hysterectomy
I had mine too. No one cared. Seems a little extra blood was the least of their concern.

Re: Period on the day of hysterectomy
I'm having surgery Monday and my period should be starting this weekend. I think the stress has it a little delayed so maybe I won't get a period at all. I told my nurse at my pre-op that I might be having it and she said it's fine.
