Upcoming hysterectomy 12/9: after recovery spot - should it be higher or lower?

I live alone so can "be" anywhere in the house. would it be better to stay in the bedroom-bed is "jump " into roll out or the living room with a lower sofa I would have to crawl out of?

it doesn't really matter..wherever you are more comfortable. once you get home, you will figure that out. i alway slept in my bed..i'm not comfortable on a couch.

Re: after spot - should it be higher or lower?

I slept in my bed at night but in the days I was in my recliner or just roaming around the house. Unless your doctor says so you should not be bedridden. You will need to rest a lot but need to move around as well. Moving helps prevent blood clots and helps the digestive system. Listen to your body and don't over do it.

Re: after spot - should it be higher or lower?

For me I found getting in and out of bed was more about no abdominal strength than pain, I was lucky and never did really have any pain. Google log roll after hysterectomy and it will give you videos showing the easiest way.

For me, sitting on things that were higher than knee height was not a problem, but anything lower than knee height was a no-go.

Starting on day 3, i slept in my bed at night and used the recliner during the day.

Re: Upcoming hysterectomy 12/9: after recovery spot - should it be higher or lower?

I know after 3 c-sections where with the last one I had a higher bed that I needed a step stool to get into more easily was much better for getting out of than a lower bed or couch.

I found that sleeping in our guest bed was more comfortable because it wasn’t as high as my bed.

The log roll really does help getting out of bed!
