muscle and joint pain
I am having terrible muscle and joint pain too. I am six months post-op and can't take HRT since I had early stage ovarian cancer. I am about to go crazy because I don't feel like doing a thing.

I feel like I have the flu! Everyday I ache from head to toe. I'm so tired I can barely function. I used to jog but I hurt so badly I cant imagine working out. I also have terrible insomnia and hot flashes. I am miserable! I look and feel like hell. this is not what I signed up for!

Bailey, I'm so sorry. I know exactly how you feel. I had the endometriosis too so we can't take hormones to help with these symptoms. I'm still glad I had the surgery, this is better than the endometriosis pain. I was really hurting this morning and I just got out of a hot bath and I feel a hundred times better. Don't forget to try that.

muscle and joint pain
give yourself a year, hopefully it will all resolve itself before then, but it took me that long and then a bit more. it was worse if i tryed to push myself to exercise more but it was also worse if i sat around. i stuck to walking when i felt o.k.i let myself get depressed over it and that didnt help things either.it did resolve itself without taking any hrt except for vaginal estrogen for dryness. i had the extreme fatigue and pain in muscles,,tendons, and bones . i can walk 4 miles an hour now and be fine but that sure wasnt the case 6 months ago.i am certainly not %100 yet, still having issues with chronic constipation and lack of desire for sex. i,m hoping these issues will resolve itself before the 2 year mark. some of us just need time,,take care

Hi Arlettafrontain,
Thanks for your response. My first thought was of course cancer. I have an appointment with my OBGYN in April. Maybe I will call him to see what he has to say. Thanks again.

I just read on the Ambien site that it can cause muscle pain, and I've been taking that for a few weeks.

muscle and joint pain
I am also having muscle and joint pain. I just purchased a treadmill and I am now walking on it 5 times a week. This has helped me some. Also I had a Dr. appt yesterday and I asked her about the joint pain and she said that starts to happen at my age . I guess at 47 I didn't imagine joint pain starting. Oh well I will keep pressing forward. I also started takeing the fish oil capsules. I hope we all get better soon and get all the kinks worked out. I cab's take HRT so I am doing all this natural. I still have hot flashes at night every once in a while I get a few days reprieve.

muscle and joint pain
Just a thought here. I am a massage therapist and one of the things we were required to study was hormones and their effect on the human body. One of the hormones that rarely gets mentioned in conjunction with our ovaries is relaxin. Relaxin is the hormone that kicks in during pregnancy to relax and loosen our connective tissue to allow us to expand and give birth. That aside, it is still there and at work in our bodies even when we aren't pregnant. The levels change with ovulation. My thoughts then would be that if your ovaries are gone or even if you still have them that the levels that would be in our bodies would be significantly different and non-existent for those without ovaries. So it would affect our joints for sure.
For those with significant pain issues with no relief, try getting a massage. It will help with warming the tissues and ligaments making them more flexible, pliable and relaxed. It also has a tendency to interupt what we call the "pain, spasm, pain cycle". If you have a massage school in your area, you might call and see if they have a clinic. Usually you can get a massage for about half the cost of normal fees in the area. If after getting the massage is seems to help, then I would start out at one a week till the pain gets under control. From there I would then suggest a once a month maintainance schedule. Also if they offer other spa treatments, you might try those. An all over salt scrub if done with dead sea salts will help to remineralize muscles that are lacking which can make them ache. Also a good mineral mud treatment will go a long way toward helping do that too.
As soon as I am able to, I plan on getting a massage from my students at least once a week in the beginning and then doing the once a month. I've seen the effect that massage can have on pain and think it should be part of any health regime.
Anyways, that's just my
