Hello corine4j and
We’re happy you joined the Hystersisters community! There is a ton of solid information on the site, and the members have unlimited cyber-hugs to dispense and experiences to share with you at every stage of your journey to good health!
If you haven’t already done so, please do yourself a favor and register to receive Hysterectomy Checkpoints. It’s one of the best features of the site, in my opinion -- designed to accompany you through the entire hysterectomy experience from start to finish, and beyond!
You can take the opportunity to prepare yourself for what’s ahead by reading the Pre-Op Articles. You might find the following particularly helpful:

We have a speciality forum for women with cancer Cancer Concerns that you may want to take a look at. You are certainly welcome to post there if you wish to. Although I had a different type of cancer than you, I can relate to the scary emotions you are feeling. Both my mother and my aunt are 10-plus year survivors of a hysterectomy for uterine cancer so I know firsthand that there are many good results.
Rest assured you have come to the right place. We’re here for you.
Many s and Best Wishes,

Corine,
Yes, there is good news. Found early enough, endometrial (aka uterine ) cancer is almost completely curable by surgery.
Please be sure that you are having a gyn/oncologist do your surgery.
And do come post over on the cancer concerns section.. you will find lots of kinship there.. lots of fellow women who have walked the path you are now walking.
Hugs,
Lisa

Hyst for uterine cancer upcoming soon and scared
I was in shock when I received my diagnosis of endometrial cancer in early March.
When I went to the gynecological oncologist for my pre-operative appointment, he told me that I might have to have internal radiation after the surgery. As you may know, the cancer is "staged" or typed after the surgery. My good news was that they found only one small tumor, and that it turned out that, after all, I need no further treatment - no radiation - and the likelihhod of a recurrence is extremely rare.
I agree with Lisa - make sure you have a gynecological oncologist do your surgery. My gynecological oncologist recommended a procedure I had not heard about, even though I had begun to do a lot of reading, and that procedure made things a lot easier.
Also, the "Cancer Concers" section is a great place to post. As Lisa said, you will find many women there who are going through the same thing as we are. Keep your chin up!
