Diagnosis....OUCH!
Looks like the Doc has said I have the high level of hyperplasia...the one just befor cancer. While she has been very good at laying out all of my options.....from drug therapy to saw bones, I feel like I just want them to GET IT OUT OF ME! Is that an odd reaction? So I am scheduled to have a hysterectomy and to be out of work for 6 weeks. I work full time and go to school full time. I am starting to feel a lot of anxiety already and it has only been less than a week since the final word came in. Any feedback would help.

That's just how I felt. I didn't have any hyperplasia, just fibroids, but I wanted my troubles *over* - no "waiting and seeing", trying this and that, buying time... I felt like I couldn't make plans and get on with things until I was "cured".
Every woman reacts a little differently. Lest you feel alone, you might like to know there is a book out there somewhere called "Just take it out!" or something like that. It's about c-sections and hysts, and how they ought to be available to women on-demand.

I feel the same way you do. My doctor gave me a choice to do a lap and see what happens or go for the hyst now and get it over with. He said there was no guarantee that I wouldn't need the lap within a month or two anyway. I decided on the hyst and it is scheduled for Jan 11. Can't wait to be blood and pain free!
Good luck and keep us posted.

I know how you feel. I just want to get this done. Now that it is getting closer I am starting to feel alittle weird about it. I am done having children but its so final knowing that I can't have any more. When they told me that my best option for all of my problems would be a hyst. I was just ready to get it over with and get it out. Now I'm alittle nervous but I think that is normal for all of us.
Best of luck!! I am scheduled January 4th.

Tried other things first
Hi! I did not have any pre-cancerous conditions so I can not relate to that but I can imagine that I would feel the exact smae way"OUT", "NOW". I am one of the ladies who did try other procedures first and now, here I sit a year later, 10 days post tah/bso. I tried an ablation also known as resection, it did help temporarily but that is the key word temporarily! Now I have to listen to my dh and friends tell me " you should have just done the hyst to begin with" To which I reply" I was not ready than"!!! No one can tell you what the right reaction is for you, you will know when the time is right. It sounds to me like you are on the road to making your decision. Gather all the info that you can in the weeks before your surgery and everything will go smoothier than you can imagine. I could not have made it through so well without all the wonderful ladies here Little things like drinking LOTS, walking and not over doing it are thnigs the dr. would not emphasize BUT which have made a world of difference!! Take care as you prepare yourself and remember we are all he if you need anything.

Diagnosis....OUCH!
Every year since I was 17 my paps always came back normal. Then a couple of years ago when I was about 36 or 37, it came back severe endocervical dysplasia, had surgery to remove it, and it came back in about a year. If it had come back one more time after that, my dr said he'd highly recommend a hyst. I had been asking for a hyst for about 5 years already, ever since he removed adhesions (from having C-sections) that caused lots of pain. I'd also complained about a lot of heavy bleeding & cramping, but I know that the word "a lot" is subjective...one person can say a lot and their amount can really be much less or much more than the next person's. Anyway, at my last dr visit last month, he did a vaginal ultrasound after the pelvic exam and found that I had adenomyosis and said I now need a hyst. Earlier this month, I had my surgery and am so glad he took that cervix out so that I no longer have to worry about the dysplasia returning or that it will be developed into cancer next time. Even though I had practically been begging for him to "take it all out" for 5 years, I was kinda depressed when he told me I needed a hyst and these emotions surprised me. I guess because it was no longer really my choice. I'm 3 1/2 weeks post now and have been glad I had it done ever since. It's so nice having that peace of mind now. And I'm also looking forward to having every week of the month instead of 1 or 2 without all that pain, heavy bleeding & huge clots, and soiling my clothes within 15 mins of changing pads (tampons got to where they just wouldn't do).

I'm right there with you on how you are feeling. I also had hyperplasia with atypia. My doc said that my percentage for getting cancer was not extremely high but my very first reaction was GET IT OUT OF ME!!! That's how much I hate the "C" word. My mom is battling cancer now and my dad passed away with cancer. No lika that word!
I understand your anxiety about being out of work and school for that amount of time, but I don't think you'll regret it. I had a few vacation and personal days left and that helped, but for the rest of the time I didn't have a pay check. Thank God I was able to do that. Hope it works out for you.
My very best wishes with everything!
Sending a !

krinannie -- you have come to the decision that is right for you. It's a cliche here, but waiting really is the hardest part.
My diagnosis was a big fribroid, and after thinking it over for a couple of months, and getting weaker from heavy blood loss, I went the hysterectomy route.
When my post op report came, they had also found complex hyperplasia which the doctor explained is pre-cancerous cell growth, (like yours) as well as adenomyosis. Three in one! Hearing this news, I was even happier that I'd gone with the surgery. Wouldn't want any of that inside me!
Take care,

Diagnosis....OUCH!
After my lap in Oct. and another horrid period, that's pretty much what I told my doc. Get it out ASAP. I was tired of it. I didn't have a cancer scare (thank goodness so far.. but the path report is still out on my hyster so I am keeping my fingers crossed) but the pain was more than enough for me to make that call.

In case anyone is interested, here's that book I mentioned:
Just Take It Out! : The Ethics and Economics of Cesarean Section and Hysterectomy
by D. Campbell Walters, Edward Quillinan
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...159824-2680667
Just the customer reviews on that site are pretty interesting reading.
Again, most of the book is about C-sections, and how women's health would be better off if they were allowed on request (prolapses, incontinence, or other injuries from having babies, anyone?), but it also goes into hysterectomies pretty well, too.
