I'm tired of waiting to see the surgeon about my options!

I'm just venting here...I'm a teacher and this was my first day of school. I am aching all over, bleeding heavily, and just generally exhausted. I have more than a week to go until I see the surgeon to discuss my options. I have a cantaloupe-size mass on one of my ovaries. I just can't wait to find out what the plan is. My GYN is pretty certain that I'll require a full abdominal surgery and depending on what they find in there, maybe a full hysterectomy. So many questions unanswered with seemingly no end in sight. Thanks for letting me whine. I don't feel like anyone "gets it" in my life.

Hi Margarite

I am sorry to read that you are experiencing so much discomfort as you anxiously await your next doctors appointment. Is there anyway that you could be put on a cancellation list to perhaps be seen sooner if someone cancels? Hang in there..... keep us posted on what transpires.

Take care

The waiting part of the journey can be difficult. I know before my surgery at times I would feel consumed by my symptoms. Sending you a next week will be here soon and you can begin the next steps.

Re: I'm tired of waiting to see the surgeon about my options!

Uuuuugggh.... that does seem like a LONG time to wait to discuss such a large cyst. When I first got my fibroid diagnosis, I actually called around to different docs until I finally found one who could take me the next day. I had that "luxury" because I'd never seen a gyno before (only PCP's for my female exams). I just needed answers, so I called every doc in the book and figured, "I can always get a 2nd opinion if I don't like her or don't like what she says,". .... Luckily I ended up liking her a lot and she ended up being my surgeon.

I would agree that perhaps it's time for some assertiveness .. maybe there is a waiting list they can put you on. I would call and ask. You never know unless you ask, as my DH would say.

HUGS!

Re: I'm tired of waiting to see the surgeon about my options!

I know, when you want answers concerning your body and your health, you want them NOW. Of course! When I was playing the waiting game, trying to find out if my ins. company would even approve surgery for me, I was scheduled for a sonogram 2 weeks out. I called a week early on a Monday because I knew they only did sonograms on Tuesday, just to see if there had been a cancellation, and luckily for me, there was. So I was able to get in earlier. It's worth calling if you can because I figure doctor's offices have cancellations all the time. Best of luck!
