TVH w/A&P repairs, with bonus surgeries!
TVH w/A&P repairs on the 2nd went well with a few curve balls thrown in; nothing bad (thank heavens).
Doc and I decided to forgo the bladder sling procedure since I was having so much repair work done, so to sum up I was having a hyst because of uterine prolapse, 3rd degree cystocele repair and rectocele repair. what I ended up with was.....Trans vaginal hysterectomy with 3rd degree cystocele repair, rectocele reair, AND an endocele repair (which was hidden behind the other bulges in my vagina) PLUS an appendectomy. Oh yeah and a small ovarian cyst and a small fibroid on my uterus. Total surgery time, a little over 3 hours. Appearantly when she finally got all that repair work done and was putting me back together my hardened and angry looking appendix decided to drop right into her view, So a general surgeon was called in to take care of that problem. My ovaries looked good so I got to keep them.
I had seriously underestimated the pain. I was banking on it being something closer to giving birth. HAHAHA not close. The hospital managed my pain well using a combo of Morphine and percocet, I was just kind of surprised.
I was supposed to come home on Tuesday and didn't make it home till Wednesday. I ended up coming home with a catheter which my Doc warned me might happen because of the size and severity of my cystocele. I took it easy all day Wednesday and Thursday. I find the hardest part of this so far is sitting upright. My bottom is so sore I can only sit for about 10 minutes if I am on a doughnut. I have pretty much reached the limit of my energy by typing this update so I am going to go and laydown now.
Thank you to all my wonderful Hister Sisters, for your support. I hope everyone is doing well!

Glad to here you are home. I too thought of a hist as no worse that birth but to my amazement I was soooo wrong. The first week is the worst. After that you may feel weak and tired but pain will get better and you will be feeling better. You will need alot of rest for the next few weeks. Take it easy and dont do too much, let people help you you will find alittle activity will take alot out of you. So keep us posted and good luck with healing process. drink plenty of fluids and take pain meds.

I am back at home from the hospital after my April 3rd TAH. I spent April 3/4 and most of the day on the 5th in the hospital. I had a very tough time on the 1st and 2nd day post op with gas pains. I was nauseaus a lot and was given dermerol and a anti nauseaus pain med that would help but then finally i just pressed the nurses button and said bring me some gas-x . I had heard so many people on this board suggest gas-x. I was really miserable and unable to keep anything down. I got a suppository and gas-x and someing else and it took only minutes to get things moving. I was completely relieved, took nap and woke up to talk to my doctor about my stitches. After all that ate a little fruit, had two or three bits of some chicken salad and some chocolate ice cream. I drank some more water and tried a pain pill and everything stayed down so I asked to be released. No problem, they let me go. Oh yeah I also did a couple of laps around the nurses desk, once in the am and once in the afternoon. They did offer me another night in the hospital if I wanted but i passed. I have been at home for about 20 hours now and everything is good. i am getting my appetite back. I am taking the pain meds as prescribed and am taking it easy with a little walking around the house.

April 3rd TLH
Well ladies...I was home within 23 hours and all went well. Left the right ovary cuz md said it looked fine. He also found a lot of Endo. and said I had "vericose veins" on the left ovary. Could explain why my left leg would swell from time to time. Once I had my BM today, I feel like a new woman. I have also been getting plenty of sleep which I strongly recommend to everyone!!! Pain was nasty but I was out of bed in 4 hours walking down the halls and the catheter was removed then as well. Had a bit of nausea that night but it went as well. Thank goodness its all behind me and I wish everyone a quick recovery as well

Just came home this afternoon. Doc said there was nno endo. seen, and diagnosed me with congestive pelvic disease (haven't gotten the path. report back re. adenomyosis). Thought this was gonna be a walk in the park...NOT!!! So far the worse part has been the leftovers of the CO2 gas they used during the procedure. Have swelly belly and am quite "off" feeling (dizzy, lightheaded) - I guess from the surgery adn all the meds they were pumping into me. I am on no pain meds as the Dilotid and Morphine were no help and made me feel worse. DH has taken off the next two weeks to help me. I am up and walking but afraid of the first BM. Have also been coughing up nasty junk. I am praying that it all gets better from here.
