I am 24 days post op and unlike some, I have felt great since day 2. I was very sore the first few days but off my pain meds by that Saturday. My surgery was 1-28. I've been back to business as usual since 6 days after my surgery..other than carrying things or running the sweeper. I have a couple days where I feel great and then a day where I am really tired, so I rest that day. My incisions are all healed up nicely and I never have pain except I constantly have trapped gas, but it gets worse as the day goes on. By evening, I feel very bloated and gassy, but it doesn't pass. Sometimes things make my stomach a bit upset but that isn't all the time. I'm wondering if my recovery is unusual since I've done so great.
1-28 laprascopic removal of uterus due to adenomyosis and cervical stenosis, heavy periods, enlarged uterus
kept my ovaries and cervix

hi everyone, am having a very difficult week; 3 areas on my incision opened, small but leaking a little 7 days ago, not some type of infection, redness about 3-4 inches wide and 2 inches tall; went to the doc and he thought it was a hematoma and ordered an ultrasound which confirmed it
I was worried about infection due to redness so we started antibiotic, long story short I was in so much pain last night that I could't sleep so finally fell asleep at noon today; took a nap and when i woke up by incision had split open and was draining copius amounts of green, blood tinged drainage. went to the doc and he cultured it and said to watch very carefully. if it doesn't start to heal up we will have to go back into the OR next week to open it up and clean it out and then leave open to heal.
send positive thoughts,
thanks, disneygrl

Oh Disneygrl! I'm so sorry! That sounds so painful I hope the antibiotics are enough to knock it out so you won't need more surgery. I think I would have flipped out if my body started draining green stuff Hang in there!

Disneygirl:
Did he say what causes that? You and I had surgery about the same time and I want to know what to look for.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I sure hope you don't need surgery again. I will say prayers for your recovery. I am very thankful but feel guilty that I have done so great with my recovery compared to yours and others I have read.

Darkeybug,
Please don't feel guilty that your recovery is faster than someone else's! We are all different and all have ups and downs in different places in our lives. I'm glad not everyone has to go through slow recoveries, post op infections, and other setbacks.
Celebrate your fast recovery and keep posting so the sisters that peruse the forum realize not everyone has a rough recovery. Sometimes these forums can be rather intimidating because there is a bias in who posts. People that are having a rough time need more support and are therefore more active on the forum. Those that are back on their feet quickly are off and running, back to their busy lives, and don't drop in as often.
We need to hear from the ladies that get well fast just as much as the ones that have a hard time. You shouldn't feel guilty for feel good anymore than a young person should feel guilty for being young

Should I expect tender breast after surgery?
I had surgery on Jan 30th. Had LSH and everything went well. So well I went into work a week later to have lunch and catch up on a few things and was there for several hours before going home.
I went to the doc on Feb 12th and everything was healing fine. Have some discomfort before I have a bowel movement or before and during urination, but the thinks it was due to some of the swelling (actually I am thinking that it is my bladder and intestines streatching out since it has so much room!). That discomfort is becoming less and less, however I am still keeping track in case it contines too much longer.
I did notice about a week ago, that my breast were tender (the left one more than the right). Since I do still have the ovaries, thinking that I was ovulating. It is now a week later and both are now extremely tender. Has anyone else experienced this after surgery? If so, how long were they tender? Just trying to determine if this is normal or if I need to contact the doc.

PattieO, the area around the incision was very large, red, painful, swollen, 2x3 inches and warm to touch; no other symptoms. my incision has opened about 1/4 inch and had been oozing. i am very thankful it was open as the infection had a place to drain rather than going internal.
doc thinks I probably had an internal hematoma that surfaced and got infected?
ended up in ER on Sat night (5hrs) because it became larger and warmer even after the drainage; they switched meds and started me on a stronger IV med and then to oral meds today; it does look better than last night so we are praying that this new meds takes care of it, will be monitoring for the next week.
Thanks for all of the prayers and positive thoughts and please nobody feel guilty for doing well; we each have a journey to take and they are all different.

Feel better Disnygrl! I havent had anything as severe as you have, but i do feel like yesterday was a step backward. Pain all day, couldnt sleep, frustrating. This morning is somewhat better though.... only somewhat.
Oh well.. as you said, we all have a journey, posts about people feeling good are encouraging to me.
