4 weeks post hysterectomy: Pms

My doc told me that pms symptoms (sore boobs, moods) csn ease off in time for some women after having a hysterectomy. Is this true for anyone ?

I am 4 weeks post op and mega moody with pms my poor spouse haha ! I would love for it to lessen.

Re: Pms

I’m almost 9 years post op and experienced strong pms for at least a year post op.

They never completely disappeared which is good telling sign that your ovaries are still functioning

Re: Pms

as long as you kept an ovary, you can still experience all the pms symptoms. they might lessen over time but there's no way to tell.

Re: Pms

The first six months post hysterectomy, my PMS symptoms were seriously awful. After that - they lessened with time. I’m in menopause now )I was peri-menopausal when I had my hysterectomy) - and I’d trade the anxiety, insomnia, rage, night sweats, hot flashes, etc., for the PMS symptoms!

4 weeks post hysterectomy: Pms

When I had PMS at 6 weeks post-op, I took it as a sign that my ovaries were functioning normally, and it gradually waned over the next few years as I went through menopause. I didn't have the usual menopausal symptoms, because my diet includes 3-4 daily servings of plant estrogens from whole organic soy foods like soy milk, tofu, tempeh, and edamame, which helped to make up for declining estrogen production; plant estrogens can also help to modulate the hormonal swings commonly associated with PMS because they're weaker than your own estrogen, and they bind to estrogen receptors in the body, decreasing its absorption. Best wishes for finding your balance soon, and for continued health and healing!
