Hi ladies.......

I was able to speak with the nurse yesterday that I knew at the Dr's office and she squeezed me in with the Dr this morning at 9:00 and he gave me an rx for klonopin....well the generic form as mentioned above: Clonazepam. He is starting me on 1/2 mg, 1 hour before bedtime......I'm so excited at the thought that I might actually get a good nights sleep tonight. He said if that dosage didn't work to let him know and he would raise it if necessary. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

((Judester)) I agree that stress plays a role in this RLS........I have had it for years but never to this extent. With my recent surgeries and other stressors it has been alot worse, I am hoping once I am fully healed and have some of the stress in my life lessened that it will not be so bad.

I'll let ya'll know how the klonopin works. Thanks again so much for your wonderful support. Ya'll are the best! I'm counting down the hours til bedtime.

Dawn,
I'll be ing that the Klonapin works. My fingers and toes are crossed also. I can't imagine going thru that on a nightly basis. The few days I experienced were so awful.

Avoiding stress

(((Jude))), I just had to laugh when you mentioned that bit about avoiding stress. Yeah right!! Just this morning, DBF asked me about what was going on during times in my life where I didn't have all these problems. I told him that the major things that come to mind are that I was under less physical and emotional stress. But....stress brings on pain which brings on more stress and then more pain and on and on.

I am entering the PMS part of my "cycle" now. I have been edgy all day. We were without electricity from midnight to 7 a.m. and it was very stormy. Kept us up which didn't help the situation at all. I actually rescheduled the appt. I had with my GP this afternoon until next week. I'm just too grouchy to even deal with that.

Wish I knew how to avoid this vicious cycle! At least we have each other!

I'm having a REALLY hard time with this RLS............

Hi Dawn.

I am sorry you are still having the RLS probs..

I will tell you that reading through the post and replies made me chuckle too. My bed used to look just like that! I just remembered that when I was taking tylenol PM a couple of years back that it brought on RLS really bad for some reason.

I know stress can play a huge part in it and I was wondering if you are on any pain meds at all? The pain meds also made my symptoms go away. Like I said before, my symptoms just seemed to go away. Of course with all of the pain meds I am on right now, even if I had the symptoms I would not feel them.

I pray that you can get a good night sleep soon!! I go to bed with the vampires and up with the roosters.

Let us know what the Dr says!

I'm having a REALLY hard time with this RLS............

Hi,

I too have had RLS since my second surgery and it seems to be getting worse instead of better. Last night I was so uncomfortable I was going nuts. I couldn't sit still. I'd stand, walk, squat, stretch....nothing helped.
Today I call my GP who prescribed the Clonazpam and now she's prescribing me valium too.
I'm worried about all these drugs I'm taking.
So far my UTI came back no bacteria but they are doing a culture so I should hear soon if I finally am over the dreaded UTI.
Take care all. We woman are so tough!

Hi Ladies.

I had a WONDERFUL nights sleep last night.......sweet relief!!! My bed was still somewhat in disarray but not nearly to the extent that it usually is. I started out taking a half of a klonopin around 9:00 last night, I am leary of new meds, about an hour later I was still feeling fidgety and achy in my legs so I went ahead and took the other half. I never really felt drowsy or like I had to go to sleep but when I did go lay down, when I feel asleep I was OUT and don't remember waking up at all until my alarm clock went off at 6:00 am this morning. I got my dd off to school and was even able to lay back down for a little while which I am NEVER able to do. I slept til 8:00 and felt like I could have slept much longer but I had other things that I needed to be doing. I almost feel like a new person. I am so thankful.

Thanks to all you great gals for your suggestions. I hope this med continues to work for me. I highly recommend this med to anyone having problems with RLS. Thanks again so much ladies for all of your support through this. Lots of 's and to all.
