Internal radiation coming up...

Dear Sisters,

I have gained so much info and good thoughts reading all posts. It's made a difficult and scary time much, much easier to bear. I had Tah/Bso 2/18/03. Dx -adenocarcinoma, mixed endo cevical- endometrial type. My recovery was pretty uneventful with the exception of being really constipated for a bit.

Went back to work and started radiation after 6 weeks. I am a heavy eqipment operator and work outside 24/7 ... It was great to get back to work and I feel good most of the time with the exception some diarrhea am able to control that with diet and some metamucil. My rear end is a bit raw (sorry,,,, ) and that makes life a bit trying...I love taking hot baths when I get home !!!!

I just found out today that rather than 28 exteral rads i am down to 25....4 left to go and then into the castle on Wed the14th for my internal radiation. I have read all of your words of wisdom , your tricks to get thru and make things bearable. I would truly appriecate any thoughts , helpful hints, or suggestions that you may have to help with this hospitalization.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Internal radiation coming up...

I don't know about everyone else, but when I went to the castle for my implants, I was there for three days, I was so drugged up that it was kind of a blur.

I would be awake off and on for the days and nights. I didn't have many visitors, scared everyone off being radio active. My BF was the only one that came and he came every night. I took books, but I didn't even open them. My BF bought me a game boy, and I did play with that somewhat, but mostly I sprang for cable and just watched tv. You can't really move from the bed, and you can't really move around in bed, so you can't really do much.

As of side effects from the implant, I don't remember having any, other than what you already have. I did stay home two weeks after that before I went back to work, but the Dr stated that I could go back the very next day if I wanted to. I had some bad cases of diarreah and I have problems in that area since my radical TAH so I opted to stay home and deal with it there instead of at work. I don't sit very close to the restroom.

Good luck, and take advantage of the rest you will have to take. Just lying on your back for a couple of days, does a world of good.

's and ers to you.

Internal radiation coming up...

Hi ... I am full of admiration for you working through your radiation treatment . Well done!
I will be having the implant on the 16th and have been advised by the nursing staff to bring plenty of
reading material.I have one novel at the ready and managed not to start it yesterday! I have read
lots of books in the last few months with not being able to sleep etc.
I will be thinking of you next week and wish you the very best of luck with your treatment!

books on CD

My mom is this very moment returning from 36 hours of internal implant treatment. I haven't yet heard from my folks about how it went, but I was out to visit her last week and we spent some time at the library looking for books on CD/Tape for her to listen to. Something else to consider to pass the time!

Take care and good luck.

You sound like my DH

When you stated that you work 24/7 I thought "If she works 24/7 when does she sleep" I do hope that you take it easy, because I know how hard heavyequiptment workers work. Remember, your still a and I hope that the guys that you work with treat you like one. I also hope that you control your diahrrea to where you dont have to use those yucky portajohns . Good luck in fast healing, and I will be praying for you.

You sound so strong and positive!

I will be praying for you while in the hospital. It might be nice to have some "down" time - who knows? Good, good thoughts and prayers are with you!
