A Wonderful Invitation

In the mail today I received a lovely invitation to "A Celebration of Life" from North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, NY. This is the hospital in which I had my hysterectomy and chemo treatments.

Every year they hold a celebration inviting ALL of their cancer survivors to a big party. They call in "survivors day". They will be having a band, a luncheon and special ceremony honoring all of the cancer patients treated at this hospital.

There is no fee at all and each person can bring one friend or spouse.

I was actually very touched by this invite. I truly believe that I am now an official cancer survivor and I love it!!

Inside the card was this saying...It was written by Curtis Bill Pepper.....

Cancer survivors are........"living people who have conquered cancer......who seem to have been born again with a greater awareness of who they are.....and appear to be more beautiful because of it...."

If I could, I would take each of you with me!!

Sounds Good to Me!

It's great of them to do that and I hope you have a wonderful time there!

They do nothing at the hospital where I was. I know another hospital/clinic has a small party (or used to) for a patient finishing chemo. I just left and no one said goodbye.

I say "HOORAY" for these hospitals which do that type of thing--makes us feel special.

I got one too

I had gotten a survivorship invitation from the hospital that I had went to. Baptist Hospital in Nashville.

They have joined up with the local hockey team. Which I think is nice, it is like a two in one deal.

I have been thinking of going, but I dont know. I guess I will send in the reservation and see what happens. They only have 2000 tickets, so if I get them I will go. From what I understand it will be during the NHL draft and will be nationally televised. Wish me luck.

A Wonderful Invitation

Hi, Rosalie. My dh and I just got back from a few days away (I'll post a separate note about it) and I read with joy your lovely message. Congratulations!

Since I'm just starting out on this journey, I look forward to receiving my invitation to next year's festivities at the same hospital! We'll make it a date!

All the best and God bless.
