Rectum Promblem Question

I love how "blunt" we are. I'm having a problem and I want some advise from my wonderful support group.

I have <I think> a hemmoroid. It's like a 1 inch or so piece of skin that is by my rectum and it's sore and my lymph node by my groin is sore too.

Can I just go to the store and get some Preparation H or something like that or is this something I have to do with another doctor. As yall know I JUST don't want to go to the doctor again. I spent 3 hours there on Wednesday with an emotional breakdown....<I lost my job now>

Any thoughts will be appreciated as this new "thing" seems to be getting worse and not better.

Thanks in advance.

Rectum Promblem Question

Hi Renee!

I am sorry that you lost your job and are still having problems.. As you probably know, I have severe hemerhoids internal and external. Go to the store and get some Tucks wipes and external hemerhoid cream. They both relieve the pain and can shrink the swelling. It sounds like a hemerhoid to me but if the wipes and cream do not work or you start running a fever I would definetly get to the DR.....

I know how it is not to want ot go anymore, but if your lymph node is involved then it could be an infection or something else. If it were me, I would try the easy remedies first and then if you get no relief go to the Dr..

I know how painful it is and I am so sorry that you having it. Mine are really bad today. Let us know if that helped!!

Rectum Promblem Question

Thanks Pam,

I went and bought the cream stuff and I think it's better already. I didn't buy the tucks (they were expensive) and I didn't want to spend the money on a huge box. Is that what you use for wiping after a BM??? Again sorry for being so blunt.

You know I thought I'd never have to buy female products again....tampons, pads, etc. Now I'm buying "other" stuff.
Geeesshhh will this ever end.

I'm calling my Uro tomorrow. I still have too much pain when I do things. Yesterday went on a walk with DH and then to the grocery store. My legs felt like lead AND I WAS a fit woman. Then we danced last night and I'm so tired in my legs today....I do want to walk though because I believe that helps with my RLS.

Thanks again Pam for your immediate answer. I think it's helping.

Renee

Rectum Promblem Question

((((Renee))))) I'm so sorry you're having these problems And to loose your job on top of everything else must make it soooo much harder

What you're describing, except the lymph node part, does sound similar to what I'm experiencing with my own hemerrhoids. I buy the Prep H and does help... a lot.

However, since the lymph is also affected, I really think that you need to have a doctor address this. I understand that you do not want to see another doctor for a while... then again, you do not want to take chances with a possible infection either.

Sending lots of s your way. Please keep us posted.

Rectum Promblem Question

Renee,
I don't know if I've ever actually had hemorrhoids, but awhile back I was having some major discomfort with bowel movements and was having some itching in that area and I was very very sore. I bought some Prep H and some of the wipes and they helped soooo much. I haven't had to use the stuff in quite some time now, but I keep it handy just in case.

BTW, I try and buy that kind of stuff at Wal Mart. I've found the Equate brand to be equally as effective in most areas as the brand name and it is way cheaper!

You may want to give the a call just to let the doc what is going on. Let the doctor decide if it necessitates a visit. It's better to be safe than sorry.

Rectum Promblem Question

Thanks for all the advice all of you. I did buy a generic Prep H and it has helped. I think my lymph node got tender because I was raw from wiping my bottom. It's still sore but my node is less tender. I think I'll go back to the store and buy the wipe things too. That will be less painful I'm sure....I just didn't want to spend MORE money on products. Somewhat tired of all the meds I continue to need.

This was supposed to be the best thing that happened or me....the hyst and it's become the biggest mistake I ever made.

Losing my job was the straw that broke the camels back. I'm so depressed because of that. I was so excited about my own business venture and my new job until I got my own clients but NOW my reputation is that I'm sick and a flake....calling in sick.

So.....here I am trying to figure how to get my life back. I am seeing a shrink, neurologist, and I'm having a ultra sound all within a couple of weeks. I need to get over this PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) and I need HELP to feel that the worst isn't going to continue to happen to me....I'm still SO scared that my fistula will return.

Normal feelings???? I don't know.
Thanks again everyone.

Rectum Promblem Question

{{{Renee}}}
I do know how overwhelming and frustrating this can be. My list of doctors is endless also. I also just lost my job a few weeks ago, well...actually it's been a month already! Yikes. First time in 15 years that I haven't had to bust my butt every day and for the first time in a long time I am actually learning to relax. I try to remember that everything happens for a reason and perhaps this happened because I truly needed the R&R. I know it can't last because the money won't, but for the time being I am taking the time to try and get myself well.

Hang in there Rene', you're not alone in your feelings or your pain. Your sisters understand and are here for you.

Rectum Promblem Question

Thanks I didn't know about the wipes. I am sore and itchy in this area. And the cream only works sometimes. I was so desperate I wormed the whole family just to start the elimination period.

Rectum Promblem Question

(((Renee)))

Oh Honey I hope you feel better soon- hey I lost my job too. but now a new opportunity has sprung up and it has worked out to be even better- I can be around for the kids until the end of school, then they go to camp and I go back to school for the new part of my life!! Things always work out in the end- that is what I have told myself over and over during the last 4 months and you do reach the end of your rope at times, but we all do come thru it as stronger women!!

Please don't worry about the fistula opening up again- you are at 3+ months and my URO said he has never heard of one opening up after 2 months unless radiation was involved.. so you are all healed now and it will NOT reopen!! Please know I wish you much comfort and peace and that you can get thru this hard time and move on to a new chapter of your life!! If you need anything- know we/I am here for ya!!!

Cheaper than Tucks

Witch Hazel and cotton balls are lots cheaper than Tucks and work just as well. Leave a soaked cotton ball on the affected area for awhile. It helps shrink the hemorrhoid and makes it feel better, too.
