Hospital Stinks!/End of the Road!

Everything messed up at the hospital. Short staffed, no records found, nurse didn't know why there today instead of tomorrow. No private room available, unsanitary conditions. Dr came in finally apologized for mix up. We decided hospital wasn't up to a surgery of this magnitude.

Totally depressed, going to try & live with hole in bladder & pain!
Dr. s--ks, hospital s--ks! Might look for pain management clinic. End of the road for me!

You can't live with a hole in your bladder. Can you find a different medical facility. This is UNexceptable. I can't believe this.

PM me if you want to talk. I don't know how to do instant messages. I tried to find you yesterday because it said you were here and I didn't know how....

We need to talk.

I am so very sorry. I know you must be soooo terribly disappointed, not to mention frustrated. Will the doctor find another facility for you? Surely there must be another hospital for you. I'm sending as many hugs as I can for you

((((((((((Terry)))))))))) I am soooo disappointed for you that the medical center wasn't up to handling your surgery. Kudos to you and your DR for deciding it wasn't the right place for you. You can do better!

Sweetie, I know you are exhausted and angry right now, we all would be. But maybe when the disappointment isn't so fresh, you can turn all that energy to resolving to find the right facility for your surgery. I'd hate to see you living with something like this for the rest of your life if you don't really have to.

Of course we'll support you whatever you decide to do. Your sisters are here for you always.

I know you are upset and understandably frustrated. But please don't give up. Give it a few days and let the shock and disappointment wear off and reassess the situation.

The pain and practically torture that we endure everyday is absolutely unfair and un necessary. Not one of us deserves this. But if we don't keep fighting and looking for answers then the same thing will eventually keep happening to other women and I for one would not wish this on anyone, ever. If we don't search for answers and keep being proactive to our care instead of reactive then physicians, hospitals, insurances, etc. will continue to offer the substandard care to women forever.
Now I know I just wrote a post 5 minutes ago where I basically said I had given up the "legal" fight regarding my health. That I stand by as I have nothing to gain from that but helping to increase healthcare costs further. But I don't intend to just accept the fact that doctor's will continue to blow us off and misdiagnos us. That is why this site is so valuable. It gives women the power of information. Thereby allowing us to make informed decisions about our care and teaching the medical community something about the way they practice medicine.

Honestly I don't know where I am going with this other than to say that I am so sad to read that Terry you have given up no matter how much I can relate to how you are feeling or not. I can't help but feel that by giving up we let "them" win. I am a nurse by profession and believe me I am not perfect. But I learn from my mistakes and if I am not made aware of them then I cannot learn from them. The same thing goes with the rest of the medical community. If you just suck it up and live with the hole in your bladder and your pain, then those responsible for it will not learn from their mistakes and no one will gain from it. Instead the same mistakes will continue to be made and women will continue to suffer.

Okay, I am sorry I went off the end there. I am just so mad that we have to live like this.

's Terry, please just give it a day or so for your own sake. You don't deserve to live in pain any longer.

Hospital Stinks/End of the Road!

You are all so wise! I wish one of you could fix me instead of these lousy dr's we have here. Anyway just got back from my wonderful FP. He can't fix me but did renew meds & got me an appt with a new uro in a different town. Now I will just be driving in the opposite direction. I see him tomorrow afternoon. Now the fight is on to get my medical records all faxed by then. I am so tired & have sprung a leak in foley cath tube of my supra. It is patched with surgical tape. I really do feel like a bad tire on a car! Up until now I have not said this but I wish I had never had my hyst. I know that I would have eventually died but would probably lived longer then I will without my bladder.

The new uro I am seeing is of Chinese dissent & is very young. I have no hopes of getting fixed anymore but in learning to live with the hole. While at the hospital there was an elderly gentleman with a supra that is admitted every other week & takes 20 different medications a day to live with his bladder. Hopefully it won't be that difficult. I am going to go to bed & sleep until my appt. tomorrow. Thanks for reminding me that it is selfish to give up.

Tomorrow is another Day!

(((Terry))) you have every right to be 'selfish' (I might call it self-interested, and I think it's totally appropriate right now). You have been through so much more than most of us. I just don't like seeing you lose hope and I am keeping my fingers crossed that it's temporary. You deserve just as much as anyone else does, to have a healthy life free of leaky catheters or any other external equipment.

I am just putting myself in your place and thinking how I would have felt if I had awakened from my last surgery with a colostomy bag, which was a very real possibility, and what if it were several months like that and it was leaking and uncomfortable... I don't know if I could be here every day and be as supportive of others as you have been lately. You're a special lady to have put up with this for so long, and I think you deserve not to have to.

I hope that when you've had a chance to process the anger (I'm angry FOR you just thinking about what you've just been through), you'll want to give it another try, find a different facility, whatever it takes. We aren't giving up on you, don't give up on yourself!
