Anyone else with "falling out" feeling, vaginal swelling

Hi there,
I've posted quite a few times about various things. I'm almost 6 months from having surgery. I had a tah. The healing process is really going very slowly for me with several tests for possible trouble along the way (thankfully all testing was negative) , birth control pills being prescribed for hrt as I still have one ovary and also going to see a physical therapist who has told me I have exceedingly poor pelvic floor muscle tone. Kegels have helped, but I still have a situation where I am swelling up vaginally after intimate relations. The swelling goes down after a day to be replaced by this strange falling out sensation. This subsides after another day or two. Then the cycle repeats itself the next time I am physical. I am using alot of lubricant and we are very gentle, so I know the swelling is not due to any kind of force. It can also happen even if we don't have actual sex but just "relations".
Does anyone else have this? No doctor has mentioned to me that it could be permenant condition, but no one can explain it either??????? Can it just be nerves acting weird?
The physical therapist has recommended ice immediately after relations (not too romantic to be clutching an ice bag between your thighs!) And also has me "inverting" myself in a recliner and doing light stomach and kegel exercises. I sure don't want this to be permenant. Anyone else out there experience this?

I don't really have an answer just something to look in to. If you still have your ovaries maybe you have pelvic congestion syndrome.

Francgal

What you have discribed is me all over. I thought it was only me as I have not read any one else with this problem.
Not sure what to do and did not know how to ask.
Thanks for the fellowship at least I know I'm not on my own.

Ladies--
Thank you for your replies. Anyone else out there with a game plan to possibly correct these symptoms? My primary care physician also put me on some vaginal hormone cream to try and heal/aid the tissues, but as I have only been on it for a few days, I don't know yet if it is working or not. Cobalt and Bec how far out from surgery are you? I was expecting to be healed this far out, but I did have some problems with infection at the vaginal cuff about 7 wks after surgery. I am just hoping this is not a permenant condition due to some scar tissue or something up there???
I am glad that I am not the only one with this problem, but sorry others are going through it too. Please post if you happen to visit or call your doctor and they have a resolution. I'm hoping it is just part of the healing process! Thanks for any and all advice!

My surgery was 1/22, I'm 17 weeks post op and thought I would be healed by now. I have had silver nitrate treatment 3 times because of granulation, I have spotting after sex and irritation. What do you mean by "inverting" on a recliner. I too am trying kegals but don't think I need to be any tighter!

Sheri I have a question

Sheri--
The falling out feeling used to occur ALL the time, but the kegals and other exercises have helped but intercourse or any activity where I orgasm will bring back the swelling and the falling out feeling within the next few hours and it will stay for a few days.
I have been examined by 2 gynocologists and my PT and all say I don't have any prolapses. My PT did say my muscle tone of the pelvic floor was so bad that it was a miracle that i didn't have any, though, so I wouldn't be surprised if everything was just sagging.
May I ask if you were standing up when they diagosed you with your prolapses? I have heard from other ladies on these boards that they were and i wonder sometimes if maybe these doctors are missing something?
Cindy--As to how I am doing the "inversion" part of therapy.....basically it is getting down on the floor and putting my feet up on the seat of a chair for 10 minutes or so, a couple times a day. You can do the same thing using a recliner if you tip it back as far as it will go and put the foot rest as high as it will go. It is by far the easiest "exercise" in the list of things she has given me to do!

Anyone else with "falling out" feeling, vaginal swelling

((Francgal)) ,
My Dr examined me while I was lying down but she had me push as if I were trying to urinate or have a BM. I have also heard where Prolapses were missed b/c of the exam being done while you were lying down
IMO, I would get another opinion & express your concerns about this DX being missed b/c of how the exam was performed.
BTW~I was referred to a UroGyn, which I havent got to see yet, but I have heard that they are more knowledgeable in this area...Just a thot...
(((hugs)))

Sheri--
I do have an appt. with a third gyn next week as there are still these ongoing issues. I forgot to mention that I actually did have an appt. with a uro as well during this recovery process and remembered that he did have me "bear down", as did the PT and one of the gyn doctors, so I was checked out at least that far, but I think I will mention the standing part to see what she says.
I recently read your post about your problems and wanted to say that I really hope things go well for you with these latest developments. You are always so wonderful to everyone on these boards, posting so much information and always there with a kind word and a hug when we need them. Thank you for all your support over the past few months. Keep us posted on your condition and take the time that you need for yourself! (Women are infamous for taking care of everyone but themselves, you know!)
