Does Chemo Have this affect on everybody?

Hiya All,
I's me again. Been home 14 days from second treatment. Didn't feel too bad at all. Just wondering why this time I had awful mood swings(like realy bad PMT)? and was very short tempered. I'ts been ok for the past couple of days. Is it the hysterectomy or the chemo or both? I was also deppressed and could nit think one positive thought.
I am due to go in again on Wedneday but I have a boil on my vagina(OUCH!) and a couple of mouth ulcers so the nurse said my blood could show I have an infection and it's possible I they will have to delay the next one until it clears with the antibiotics.
I do hope not.
Look forward to hearing from you.
Steph.

Does Chemo Have this affect on everybody?

(((Steph)))

I'm sorry you have had a bad time of it this past 2 weeks. I have not had chemo, but I wanted to let you know I was thinking about you. The body can have a lot of various reactions to chemo and hysterectomy (as the other sisters will attest, I'm sure). I hope your blood counts come back OK so that you don't have to put off your next course. I think it's hard to be positive when you are facing so much and when you're having mood swings, and it's certainly hard to be positive with such a boil (double ouch!).

Hang in there, Steph! I know that the others who have experience with chemo will be along shortly (I'll be lots are outside for the holiday and good weather!). Until then.........

Does Chemo Have this affect on everybody?

Hi Steph,

I also had mood swings during chemo and still do, but theyv aren't incapacitating. I think it is a combination of chemo, the changes cancer brings to our lives, ab the instant menopause caused by the hyst, Hang in there

Does Chemo Have this affect on everybody?

Hi, Jennimarie!

I haven't had any mood swings, but I can't sleep at all. So that's my big problem. I've been taking Ativan and I also have Ambien. I try to save Ambien for emergencies. The Ativan, meanwhile, has been helping. I'm going to have to ask my doctors about this lingering insomnia next time I see them.

I had a mouth ulcer, or sore, towards the end of my second chemo. It took about two weeks to fully go away, and it was very painful. They gave me Nystatin and Lidocaine, but he Nystatin didn't do much of anything, and the Lidocaine just temporarily numbed the sore.

I didn't appreciate the fact that my sore was located on the tip of my tongue. My doctor did postpone chemo by a week, but that's well within the normal cycle guidelines for Taxol / Carboplatin (21-28 days). So it wasn't too much of a problem. I'm just off schedule now.

I am now taking extreme care to brush immediately after eating anything, and to follow the brushing with a baking soda and warm water rinse. I am also avoiding anything acidic, such as caffeinated teas, tomatoes or pasta sauce, lemons or lemon tea, things that are highly salty, etc. Mouth ulcers are so painful! I don't even want another one. I hope yours heals fast. I also hope that your doctors are able to get rid of that unfortunately located boil. That sounds even more painful. I'm so sorry!

I hope your mood stuff calms down. Chemo is hard enough without having to deal with that. Daily three-mile walks are helping me keep my attitude positive. I always find that exercise clears the head and mind.

Hope you feel better! s!

So Glad Your'e There Girls!

Jeanine, Debbie, SirenSong and Everyone Else,
Thanks for the cheery words of comfort. Isn't it amazing what talking to freinds can do. I know what you mean about insomnia SirenSong. Add to that profuse night sweats then I am a complete mess. I am taking sleeping tablets that normaly let me have about 6 hours sleep, but not when the mood swings and night sweats are at their worst. Then I just lie and imagine all sorts of aches and pains........but then I'me not telling any of you anything new am I? This bloody boil doesn' t appear to have a head on it so it realy is huge and painful now. I'me praying the antibiotics will do the job but only have 2 left to take tomorrow.
I have felt well the past 2 days so am trying to cram lots in before Wednesday.
Love hearing from you all and thanks so much.
Love,
Steph.
