ovarian 1a
Hi
I'm 5 weeks post op. I feel very fortunate. My pathology came back borderline ovarian malignancy so it wasn't even staged. I'm seeing the gyn/onc in a couple of weeks but am hoping I won't need further treatment. I live near Boston and had my surgery at Boston Medical Center. I highly recommend that second opinion at Dana Farber. They are the best.
Good Luck!

Stage 1A Ovarian Cancer
Hi Julie,
I was diagnosed with Stage 1B, grade 3 ovca. I had 6 rounds of chemo due to it being a grade 3 tumor.
I believe that there is some debate of how to treat stage 1 ovca. The biggest thing is to make sure that it is/was staged correctly. Going to a gyn/onc is the best thing to do.
Best of luck,
Diane

forgot to mention
Julie,
I also forgot to mention that due to stage IC, will receive three rounds of chemo instead of six as planned at first. This as my gyn oncologist had said because it is a stage I and all biopsies were negative.

Stage 1A Ovarian Cancer

I am glad to read you are heading to Dana Farber for that second opinion. Depending on the type of ovarian cancer, more and more studies are showing agressive treatment to have the best results in the long run. That holds true for epithelial cancer at any rate.
Please let us know all about your Dana Farber trip and what they suggest.
We are here for you!!!
