Hello Sisters, I have got the results back from my Barium Enema. They said that it was normal accept that I had a redundant transformed colon. Has anyone ever heard of this? I would really like to hear any feed back on this one. I am glad that it isn't serious but I would like to know what it is that I am dealing with. Any information would be greatly appreaciated.Thanks. Kathy

Hi ((((Kathy))))

I'm afraid I do not have any insight for you, since I've never delt with the condition you're dealing with. Hopefully, someoen will come along soon and will be able to shed some on the issue.

I just wanted to say that I'm glad that you do not have anything serious going on. Did your doctor indicate what your next steps would be?

Sending tons of your way. Please keep us posted.

Hi Kathy! Yes... I had a redundant colon until they removed most of it a couple of months ago! All a redundant colon means is that it's got one or more extra loops in it:

That may or may not cause problems. Mine did because I had a very tight corkscrew down in the sigmoid that caused me to be constipated all my life, and led to my prolapse and also to recurrent diverticulitis, which necessitated removal of most of my colon. Hopefully that will never happen to you. I suspect that "transformed" just means that you were not born that way (I was) but maybe the condition developed after your hyst? Possibly due to adhesions (or endo can do it too) sticking sections of it together?

Are you seeing a gastroenterologist? If so, I'd ask him/her about any possible long term implications of this. Probably there are none, and they'll just want to keep an eye on it from now on (periodic colonoscopies maybe, to make sure you don't form diverticulae?).

I'm glad the barium enema showed no serious problems. Where do you go from here?
