A warning about narcotic pain medication/management

I, too, am glad you brought this to our attention, Charity.

And Sheri, I understand that narcotic drugs are used as the 'main' pain killer in some cases. I think it's important for people to know that there are other alternatives to try first, however. Many doctors, especially ones who are not trained in Pain Management, prescribe narcotic drugs in the beginning and this, too, can lead to situations like Charity's mom's. I also think that we need to be alert to misuse ourselves, as Pain Management doctors are sometimes very determined to get rid of the pain and do not pay enough attention to what else is happening to the patient as a result of the medication. The case here is a perfect example. I'm walking the fine line myself now. I'm very sensitive of how important it is to weigh the pros and cons, make decisions about how much pain I'm willing to tolerate and how much drug I'm willing to take.

A warning about narcotic pain medication/management

(((Charity))),
I'm so sorry, I never meant to *lessen* your (((Dear Mom's))) situation It's just that we Chronic Pain Patients are often left to suffer or beg for relief Then, with all the stigma attached the use of Narcotics & how we are treated, has left me in a *Defense Mode* whenever this subject comes up. For many of us this is a last ditch for us to live w/ some sense of normalcy

My Pain Clinic is a *Multi Disciplinary* one & they use several different treatments to help treat the pain. They have found several other new DX's thru testing ect...

Again, ((Charity)) I apologize
