Finally Home

Well, it has been 4 days since my hyst. I was lucky and my doctor was able to do the vaginal hyst. There were a few complictions. First, while in surgery, I lost a lot of blood. After I woke u p in my room I felt a little too good and wanted everything to be taken off and out. The first night I got absolutely no sleep. The next day I was extremely itchy from the morphine and then I started running a tempature of 102.6. They immediately started me on antibiotics and the temp. finally came down. Needless to say, this meant more time in the hospital. I had the catheter taken out and they were shocked that I was able to go to the bathroom immediately. Then there were the leg massagers. I don't know about anyone else but between the blood pressure cuff and these things I felt like something was always squeezing me. The next night my temp went right back up again and we went through everything another time. I was up and walking the first night but on the second I had extremely bad back spasms and had to be wheeled back to the room where they game me toradol in the leg. I am finally home and on the whole feeling good but am extremely glad I don't have to go through that again.

I am now home and had the best sleep ever last night. I have had plenty of company and I am still having to keep a close watch on my blood pressure, pulse, and temp. Did anyone else have these kinds of problems after surgery?

It sounds like you had a little extended stay in the hospital - I'm so sorry that all that happened to you.

One of the things you mentioned was running a fever. I didn't run one in the hospital, but a couple of days after I got home I started to run one. At first, the doc said it was normal for it to happen and just brushed it off as after effects. My fever continued to rise and I continued to pester my doc - he had me come in and low and behold I had a UTI!!!!!

I do have back spasms too, but they aren't related to having the hyst. I had back surgery back in 1984. My back has taken a beating during many of my surgeries! Yuk! I understand how it could hurt!

Sending you a big and welcoming you to being a Princess. Remember to relax, rest, drink lots of water, and do some walking(helps with the bowels).
