I haven't seen this drug yet mentioned on the boards (sorry if I missed anything), but a friend just mentioned that her doctor had encouraged her to participate in a Phase IV trial.

Has anyone heard anything about OvaRex? Or been encouraged to participate in a study? It sounds interesting. Informative press release from the NOCC site is posted below. At the bottom of the release, there are also links to a number of interesting press releases / articles.

Hi Siren Song

I looked into it extensively in the spring of 2002.
My onc at Fox Chase was not for it. He did encourage me to do what I felt I needed to do however.
Ovarex does seem to mess up the reliability of the ca 125 in many women.
And the ca 125 is a very good tumor marker for me.
Also I have learned to always be leery of drugs where research is done mainly by a drug company. Such is the case with ovarex.
Think of HRT. HRT was pushed by the drug companies and it was years before the scientific research was performed. JMHO
Rosalie: Ovarex is thought to prolong remissions.
