Recovery question
I am scheduled for a laproscopic hysterectomy on June 23 and coming home June 24. We have two daughters ages 3 and 7 and my husband and I were wondering how much time he should plan on taking off work to take care of me. Is one week enough?

I am still a LIW, but we are planning on two weeks. My sister was already taking the first week off, and so my husband is taking the second week. I have a 2 and 4 year old, so they are a little more work than your older children. After the two weeks I am still planning on having a helper (my nephew), I don't want to risk not healing correctly. If your 7 year old can help and grab pre-prepared meals, 1 week is probably ok. But you probably won't be able to cook for them or keep them entertained for awhile. I look forward to reading the other responses. Good luck!

forgot something
Oh, I also wanted to add that you will not be able to help your 3 year old go to the potty (no lifting or bending), as it'll probably still be work for you! (((HUGS!)))

Recovery question
Hi
In answer to your question of how much time your DH should take off - mine took a week. When it was time for him to go back, I wished he'd taken another week off. The first couple of weeks for me were hard. Other people have different situations so you will probably get different answers on this question.
You have two small children and you cannot lift them for quite awhile after surgery! If your dh can't take that much time off, maybe some other family members or friends could help you out?
That is what I did and it worked out great!!
Sending you a big
Patty

Recovery question
Hi, the first week home after my hyst was when I needed the most help. After that I could care for myself pretty much, with help when I needed it.
However with 2 small children, it's likely that you will need some help for a longer time. As has been mentioned, there is no lifting or bending for awhile.
If your Dh can take the extra time off work, I would say to go for it. If not, do ask friends and family for some help too.
Best wishes.
