I don't get it pre-op clothes don't fit??

I know that sounds stupid but every pair of pants or shorts I try on do not fit!!!!!!!!! I didn't expect to lose weight and be a smaller size but I thought my old clothes would at least fit . It is getting very depressing because I go shopping and shopping and shopping and nothing fits right no matter what size ( I was a 10 before surgery now even a 12 is tight) I know it sounds silly to complain after all my problems with heavy bleeding and anemia are now over but still the same I feel like crying Does anybody else have have this problem?? Thanks for listening.

Clothes :(

HI: I had my surgery (TAH-BSO) one day before yours and can COMPLETELY relate!!!!!) I had my six week checkup today and had nothing but one pair of shorts (shorts that before would hang on me) that I wore to the exam (very depressing) I go back to work full time Monday, and am starting to wonder what in the world I will wear (somehow in an accounting office I don't think I can pull off the shorts Hang in there, my doctor assured me today that it will get better with time, and to be patient. What really is amazing is that I've lost 5 lbs, so you would think I could wear things!!!!!!!! I'm right there with you, and please let me know when it gets better for you (so I can be encouraged!!!)

I don't get it pre-op clothes don't fit??

I am 5 wks post op and have lost about 5-7 pounds but still can't seem to wear my regular clothes. I'm still swollen up front I guess and it's very uncomfortable!!!! I also am still very numb in my pubic erea???? Has anyone else had this?
I've been trying to watch the foods I eat and cut out sodium, as that seems to make you swell. It seems to be helping some, but It's hard NOT to eat some things I just can't do without.......lol
Drink lots of water, walk and watch what your eating. See if that helps.
Don't let it get you down, It'll get better I just know it. : )

I'm three weeks post op and have only one pair of pants that fit!

I am worried that this belly will never go down. I have never been "small" but I was OK, now I am down to one pair of pants and from what it looks like you ladies are a month ahead of me so now I sit and  and know that I'm going to have to go shopping I'm so upset!

I don't think I can wear my nightgowns out in public... well I could if I had enough balls... but I guess that is why we have the internet now. Shop tell we drop sitting at home.....

I don't get it pre-op clothes don't fit??

Hi Ladies!

After my surgery it was about 4 months until I could fit into most of my pre-surgery clothes comfortably. After a major surgery there is lots of swelling until the body heals. I am now 16 months post-op and down 28 pounds from my pre-surgery weight. Even if you do not need to lose any weight prior to surgery you will probably still have some swelling after surgery and your clothes may not fit for awhile. Take care.

I don't get it pre-op clothes don't fit??

I have been on a low carb diet before during and after my surgery so I have taken my measurements and I have lost inches everywhere but my abdomin, I had a 1 inch gain there so I was not suprised!! I am sure it will go down in time as we heal!!

Even though I never had 'swelly belly' as such, I still found my clothes uncomfortable for months after my TAH. Couldn't stand anything tight around my stomach or in the crotch area. Still not that fussed about it at 10 months post come to think of it.

As to the numb area, still got that too. My DR told me that eventually the nerve endings would regenerate.
They are, but they're not in any great hurry about it.

Take care.

Oh yeah - I know what you mean... I go back to work Monday, have lose a few # since surgery and had to go shopping for clothes to wear to work, I have ONE suit that I can get on...

Yes, I had a TVH and all my waistbands were tight. I was bloated for about 9 weeks out. If you had a TAH then it could be even longer. I wore pants with some stretch or elastic for a long time. I am a size 8 normally and I felt a whole size larger. I am back to normal now, but have to watch what I eat now because I think the hrt is causing my appetite to increase some.

It takes almost a year to fully recover from this surgery. I still have a few things that are not back as before.

It will get better with the tummy. The healing is still going on inside.
