my head is wet every a.m.
This just started 4 days ago-I wake up w/ my head soaking wet. I'm on v. dot and estratest h.s., which I take in the a.m. Do I need two v. dots instead perhaps? On antidepressants and sincerely think my libido won't be helped by estratest, becuz of the antidepressants. This is really a jungle!

Suzi,
Sounds like you may be having what is called night sweats. What dose is your vivelle dot? Are you having hot flashes during the day? If not, maybe your levels are dipping at night. Maybe you could either a) take the estratest at night or b) try to split your dose
I would suggest keeping a journal of any symptoms you're having, also noting the hrt you're taking, doseages and when you're taking them. The journal was very helpful to me in the beginning when I was doing alot of tweaking and trying to find my balance.

You are very welcome! I know for some of us this isn't easy and many of us didn't expect the changes that happened. I'm glad that by sharing our experiences we can help. There really is hope in the jungle!

splitting dose a.m. p.m. stopped night sweats
Splitting the dose of v. dot (always on) and estratest did! stop nite sweats -thanks kim- what can I do to tweak this more to stop depression-I am on all the antidepressants that my therapist always prescribes and that works. I need tweaking here w/ hormones I feel. And my gyn has changed me 3 times in last 6 wks. Where do I go from here? Sat thru my son's graduation utterly sad w/ no joy. That's not me, usually I'm upbeat and out going.

spliting dose stopped nite sweats
Taking the estratest h.s. at nite (while wearing v.dot) stopped the nite sweats, but I', still terribly depressed and on all the anti-depressants that have worked before. There must be something more in hrt to do. Had sah 4/2/03. I read here that estratest was a "softer" estrogen. Read about someone using 2 v. dots at once. I feel like I've been hung out to dry w/ this try and see approach to hrt.

Suzi,
Changing 3 times in 6 weeks is alot of changing to be doing in such a short time period. Our bodies need some time to adjust to the hormones. It is not unusual to experience symptoms when starting hormones or making a change. I have read where 4-8 weeks is a good trial period.
I would also recommend keeping a journal. Note the doseage you are taking, what time you are taking, etc and than list your symptoms as they occur. You may also want to note the duration. For example, if you have a hot flash write down the time and how long it lasted. The journal was very helpful to me when I was trying to find my way out of the
