Radiation Implants

I have just joined Hyster Sisters and was wondering if any of you have had an implant for cervical cancer?

Radiation Implants

Hi, Instiches. I'm about 1/2 way through external radiation treatments. After that, I'm going to have 3-4 internal radiation treatments (one per week for 3-4 weeks). While I did not have cervical cancer, the doctors found cancer in my uterus which spread down to the top of the cervix. Of course, everything was removed with my hysterectomy on 4/17. My radiation doctor commented that the internal radiation is to make sure that any microscopic cancer that might still be in the region is gone completely and does not re-develop within the vaginal walls. So, while I haven't yet had the treatment, it's on the docket. Hope this helps.

I have had one for three days

some people have them as an outpatient, it is called high dose brackatherapy (misspelled) wher they go in for a few hours then go home afterwards, what I had was a low-dose and had the radioactive tampon in for 48hrs, this required a 3 day, 2 nite stay in the castle.

Do you know which one you are having?? If you need anymore info just ask.

Radiation Implants

Dear Institches

I have some knowledge regarding radiation implants. I had 5 weeks of daily external radiation. Then I had 4 implant procedures also known as (brachytherapy). I have stage 1B1 adenocarcinoma cervical cancer. The treatments each lasted about 4 1/2 to 5 hours. That is prep time at the hospital and everything. They weren't as bad as I thought they would be, but they were a little uncomfortable. If you have any questions I can probably answer them for you, as well as give you some suggestions for when you have yours done. You can e-mail me also anytime at <admin snip of email address for safety/privacy>.

Take Care
