Anyone have good results with LEEP?

I had a Leep done about 5 days ago and am still waiting to find out if the edges are clear. I feel sick to my stomach everytime I think about it. I am so worried that I will not get the result I want. My doctor sounded very confident following the procedure and he also said he was "very aggressive" because of the fact that I don't intend to have any more children. I just want some good news for a change! Anyone had good results with this procedure??

Something you need to keep in mind is that this is a hysterectomy board, so there is a good chance that those who have had successful LEEPs with clear edges might not be reading it. I know it is hard to take, but hopefully your results will be good. If not, you will deal with the next step when you come to it. It will be OK.

I just did a web search for LEEP Procedure and everything I read implied that it has a good cure rate.

Diane makes a good point....most ladies come here after a hyst has been recommended. Those who come for the reasons you did often have successful treatments and move on.

I had a Leep in October 2002 and the pathology report was clear margins -- the Gyn/Oncologist then told me my odds for it returning were the same as any other woman --- and my pap in February was normal...but the doctor biopsied two spots last week during my colopo and the doctor called this afternoon to say that the dysplasia has returned ....I have an appointment for Thursday morning to discuss my options -- but I guess for some it is the cure all and for some of us it still can come back.

Just want to say that no matter what the outcome of your Leep --- always return for the paps --- better to be safe!!

LEEP done in 1995. It came back clear and I had only one other off pap in 1996. So - my first LEEP bought me eight years; so to speak. I had 7 years of clean paps and then a bad one in less than 1 yr. . This time the LEEP didn't come back good - so off to the Castle I go!

I had leep cone biopsy on 2-22-02 (easy day to remember) At the same time I had a hysteroscope and d&c. My Leep came back clear and never had another problem with it. I've had paps every three months ever since. My d&c showed endometrial hyperplasia. After treating with provera and depoprovera that never fully went away. The leep on top of my cervix severly ripped in delivery meant it was too compromised for children. I had the hyst for the hyperplasia and he took the cervix at the same time just so I would never have to worry about another bad pap. Good luck on your results.
