I must admit that this site was a blessing. It was informative and everyone was there to help and offer suggestion. I am 8 weeks post surgery. Had an epidural and spinal after slight discussion with doctor who said she preferred to do generals... I say hold strong to what you want ladies. My recovery has been nothing short of blessed. Had a total hysterectomy (ovaries removed due to ovarian cancer history of mother), on Estrace 1 mg. Had one bad day night following surgery where gas pain was horrible but paid attention to advice received on hystersisters and did what had to be done - pride is not an issue at a time like that. Just know that Hystersisters was a big part of my recovery and have recommended it to as many people as I know that are faced with a hysterectomy. God bless you one and all for all the help and support...

Hi Deckwoman,

I'm so glad that your recovery has gone well and that you are feeling good!

It's always encouraging, especially for the LIW's and newly punctured s to read a post like this.

Wishing you continued good health and s

I, too, am a punctured with a great recovery! I've had people tell me how great I look, and all I can do is smile (inside and out). I guess I was so used to being sick and in pain, that I got used to it and forgot what "normal" feels like.

I had TAH/BSO on 6/9, then another surgery on 6/10 (more than I bargained for!) for internal bleeding, and I also received a blood transfusion. That stuff was scary, but I got through it.

I was home 3 days post up and up and walking around (and bored) LOL

At 6 days post op I had to drive to the pharmacy - 1 mile each way - and did fine. At 9 days post op, I took little drives (no pain killers), and now at 2 weeks, I feel great!

I'm very blessed to have had no real complaints....healing well and speedily, adjusted to my estrogen dose, and generally happy to be pain free and NO bleeding! Oh my goodness, discharge stopped at 2 days post op, and I have had nothing since....wow, would have gone through about 4 packages of pads in this time frame before!

So, to LIW, best of luck to you. All experiences are different....nothing is right or wrong, everyone heals in the way that THEY are meant to. I just wanted to share that it can be "easy".

Don't think that I'm up and painting the house or anything, though. I'm still "pampering the princess"....listening to my body, knowing when it's time to rest or nap, not lifting, pulling, pushing, etc. Just enjoying a little mobility and sunshine!

Blessings to all,
Genny
