I made it through my 6th and FINAL chemo treatment todayy!!!! My blood count was good to go, despite bleeding hemorrhoids!

My extended family of sisters and sister-in-laws who usually take me to chemo are packed up and out of the country...went to Ireland. So, my best friend from high school took me to the infusion center. We had a good ole time until I got tired. Then, I put on my cd player and listened to Jim Brickman (pianist), which brought back memories of my mother. While I dozed, I could feel her presence. I know she was with me during my last chemo!

When the nurse put the last carbo syringe on the infuser, she said it was time for the fat lady to sing (she meant to carbo!) After 20 minutes, when the carbo was done, my nurse brought me a t-shirt and card from the nurses. The t-shirt has a blonde woman jumping out of her shoes saying, "Free at Last!!"

I can't believe I made I just have to get through the next 10 days, and my CT scan on July 8th.

I feel like it's my own personal new is about to begin again! Ironically, I received my college course book in the mail for fall registration...onward to Human Anatomy and Physiology for me!

Free at last, free at last, Thank God I'm free at last!!!!

I posted that other "did you finish yesterday?" note in the other thread before I saw this one.

Many, many congratulations! You must be so, so relieved! I'm only halfway there and I'm already champing at the bit. How nice that the nurses did a little T-shirt giftie thingie for you! And that you could commune with your mom a little during that very last treatment! I know she's smiling down on you for making it through this arduous journey.

Let us all know how your hair comes back! And as Karenann said, please do take care of yourself. You are recovering from a lot!

Like Jochan said, I'm sure I will cry when this is all over.

Yahoo! Chemo's OVER!

I like that idea of a shirt and card. A woman I know of who used another hospital in my city got a little party when she was done--that place does that for everyone through with chemo. We got nothing but that was OK--I was so glad to be out of there!
