Do Not be Afraid

I am 3 weeks post op now and am recovering very well. I have been the perfect princess.
I do get teary at times, and I get tired but I rest.

I can tell you if you have been visiting this site you will be well prepared and being prepared was the key for me. I now concentrate on tv, books and I have taken up kitting and am doing well.

Please know that you are all doing this for the right reasons and it will probably be the best thing you have ever done.

Take care of yourselves and do as you doc tells you and remember all you HS will be there thinking of you,

With Love

Marie

This site is fabulous for preparing emotionally as well as getting things done pre-op to make the recovery a little easier. Knowledge is power and will help you walk through this a bit easier.

All of the princesses keep saying "remember your princess training".... we know what we are talking about. You will do so much better if you remember to rest alot, drink alot of water and take short, frequent walks (to mailbox, down driveway, etc.)

Your body will let you know when it's ready to progress to the next level as well as when you've overdone it, and we've all overdone it from time to time (you will too !!!)

Don't think you will "get over" this surgery in a week or two, this is very major surgery. Each milestone (showering, fixing a light meal, walking in the backyard, eventually driving, etc.) will make you so happy and also so exhausted. Give in to the fatigue and enjoy the nap - with what you've been through, you deserve it !!

But most of all, remember, this is YOUR time to focus on yourself and your needs. It may sound a little selfish, but you have to be selfish sometimes to take care of yourself. My dr. told me before he discharged me from the castle that I only have one chance to heal properly the 1st time. After that, any healing I do will be because of a problem that has occurred, and will drag all of this out. It is my choice to be a good princess or pay the piper..... I really like the crown, so guess I'll be a good princess.

Best of everything to all you LIW's.... you'll be a princess before you know it, and wondering why you spent all the time worrying about this. It is true you know, the waiting IS the worst part.

Here's to a speedy recovery !!

Okay, princesses, new lady in waiting here. I ride off to the castle on the 8th. Had my first panic attack today. Not sleeping either. Should I ask my handsome Dr for something for sleep/nerves when I see him Thursday. I normally don't take any meds, wouldn't consider HRT as an option, did black cohosh and soy milk for hot flashes (or power surges as I prefer to call them) but am about ready to ask for something.
Help me!!
