Polyps in Uterus

Has anyone had polyps in the uterus. I have many and a lot of excess tissue. New surgery date if Aug 15, 2003. Worried about what else they might find.

My gyn thought I had a polyp in my uterus, which turned out to be endometrial cancer stage 1a. I was 44 when dx last July. My gyn said that polyps are very common in women in their 40-50's, much more common than cancer. We were all very surprised when the dx came.
Don't worry at this point...The liklihood is that you just have a polyp. Keep posting and let us all know what you find out. If you have any ?? just ask. Chris

I was afraid of scaring you, but now that Chris has broken the ice, I felt I could also write. I was also told that I had polyps, and when they went in to remove them found out I had endometrial cancer.

I wasn't worried by the polyps at all, because my mom has had lots, and has had them surgically removed at least 3 times. I am 40, and was thought to be much too young for this kind of cancer, but my mom is 65 and other then the polyps has never had any gyn. problems.

I am telling you this because most polyps are really nothing serious, but if you are writing on the cancer board you will obviously get a lot of answers from people where it wasn't nothing, so just keep that in mind and think positive!

I too have read that MOST polyps are completely benign (irritating little devils sometimes, but rarely cancerous).

the advice above is good - try not to stew about "what might happen" - take one step at a time and try not to waste valuable energy worrying about what else "might" happen - save it for speeding your recovery!
