Hyster or Lap? Have had 3 c-sxns & facing possible hyster

I had been having severe pain on my left side near my incision site (last c-sxn on 10/6/99). Went to Dr. and he said scar tissue & adhesions. Did internal and external sonogram. Tech said that I had a lot of scar tissue in my uteris and was difficult to get good pic of the lining of my uteris. Said that my uteris was the size of an eggplant and very scarred.

So Dr. has reccommended that I attempt a laparoscomy to remove the adhesions and scar tissue. If he cannot successfully remove it he will perform a hyster. (I am 25)

So obviously I still have numerous questions for my dr. however, was wondering if any one else has been faced w/ something similar and if I should just have the hyster done and forego the lap completly?

I have been told that w/ a lap you should move around to move the gas out of your shoulder and into your intestines. And obviously if I have a hyster it will be fairly difficult to do this.

Thank you in advance for your responses.

Hyster or Lap? Have had 3 c-sxns & facing possible hyster

Dear Wendi,

Regarding your concern about moving the gas post-surgery, you will be up & walking (slowly!) post-op whether you have the lap for adhesion removal or the lap (or vaginal or abdominal surgery) for hysterectomy.

If you are uncomfortable with your options, you may feel better getting another (and another!) medical opinion on your choices.

Good luck on your decision
