Oh my gosh, what now

Good Morning Sisters!! I sure hope some of you can help me out. I am 1 1/2 weeks post-op. I don't sleep anymore, if I am able to doze off it only lasts an hour or two and then I am wide awake. Also, I now have a lump and rash next to my thyroid ( I was diagnosed as hypo five months ago and have been on sythroid since) the swelling goes around to the back of my neck and into my shoulder blade. All my swelling is on the left side, even my post op swelling. Has anyone else experienced this or know someone who has? I am having night sweats and the normal post op aches, but this plus the swelling from the biopsy is concerning and puzzling.

Have a wonderful day ladies, keep your chins up and pillows close, I will keep you all in my prayers

I agree. your complaints need to be addressed by a DR. I am concerned particularly with the rash and swelling on your neck. Swelling and rash can be a sign of allergy to meds. which can be dangerous.

Sleeplessness is a common post op issue. Since yours is so bad, it wouldn't hurt to let your DR know about it.

Thank you

Thank you for your advice, and I did contact my doctor (gyn) who felt I needed to see my family doctor. I made the appointment and went in. My doctor is out of town so I saw his stand in who has scared me. After examining me he made this statement "I don't believe this is infection, it is either one of two things, (one of them I can't say or pronounce but it has to do with the lymp nodes) and the other cancer". He did a blood work up on me and the nurse seeing how upset I was and finding out he stated I could have the "Big C" promised she would call with the results as soon as they had them. I am not sure how long blood work results take, they drew the blood in the office. This has really been a low blow to me as the possiblity of my having to have open heart surgery in September is looming over me. This has been such a long and traumatic month, and were not even in the middle of it yet. I feel like crying, but I am all cried out, with the loss of my grandchild last week, my lap surgery and waiting for that biopsy, now this. But what does not kill us makes us stronger and sisters by August I should be able to take on Arnold Schwartenegger in a two count Thanks for reading and listening, I do have support in my family, but they take things harder than I do. All of you understand, and having a place to be heard and understood is so important. I hope I am financially able to contirbute here soon (no health insurance) it will be a joy to be able to give something back here.

I don't think that there is a sister here who is worried about you making a contribution. We are all here to offer our support to and to help each other along the road. I am so sorry for all your troubles and you will be in my prayers.

I'm so sorry you are having so many trials at this time. Sometimes things come in such floods, that it seems almost unbearable at times. You are right about becoming stronger, experiences of this kind show us how strong we really are.

I hope you get the results of the tests very soon. Not knowing what you are dealing with is so hard. Let us know what you find out, won't you?!

We have a few things in common first of all our surgery dates were the same, I am hypothyroid, I take synthroid and I am having a lot of trouble sleeping. I started out with Graves Desease (hyperthroidism) as a child my neck looked like I had a blown up inner tube in it. IMHO you should have your thyroid function rechecked. I have been trying to sit up more during the day as to not nap and it is helping me somewhat with sleeping at night. I hope you are feeling better soon.
