really red belly button after lap

Was wondering if anyone here has had infection in the belly button incision after a laporoscopy? I am doing the q-tips with peroxide but it is really red. I did notice a little pus yesterday. Was wondering also if this could get serious? My post-op appt is not until next week.
Thanks for any replies.
Sincerely, B-Jean
P.S. and things were going so good!

Hi B-Jean.......

Yes, it is very possible to get an infection in that belly button incision. You should definitely give your Dr. a call and see if he wants you to come in sooner to have a look at it. Also did your Dr say that it was okay to use peroxide on the incision? My Dr had me using peroxide on mine but he had my diluting it by half with sterile water, he said that peroxide is very strong alone and if left on the incision can actually eat away at raw tissues, so be careful and if he hasn't given you permission to use it then I would ask about that as well when you call the office. Best of luck to you and 's. Let us know what happens.

I agree totally with Dawn about giving your Dr a call!!!

Mine was infected after one of my laps and it was so bad I was put on antibiotics. I have NEVER used ANYTHING on my incisions and have had many laps. They have always told me to try and keep it as dry as possible.

Please call and dont wait another week. I waited until it hurt to move and by then it was really infected.

Please let us know what he says and I will keep you in my prayers sweetie!!

Me Too

Hey I totaly agree to call your doc, But in my situation, I tend to scar really easily and so you can tell every insision they made on me. Even where the camera set, (the spots around the belly button). Hopefully, it's nothing serious, but it's always safe to check.
