Constructive things to do during radiation

Hi all,

Today, I was asking some questions about my internal radiation treatment. I am scheduled to started in a week and a half. I found out that the treatments will each last about 4 1/2 hours!

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas what I or other ladies who are going through this can do during that time. I know one constructive use of this time alone, is to catch up on my dilation therapy! haha

In my normal radiation treatment there is a lovely hand painted picture of a bunny in a meadow. I must say it has inspired me to take up painting at some point, but I don't think I shall have the joy of my bunny companion while I'm in the longer treatment area. I guess I can read... I can't imagine doing my nails is acceptable... have considered to request that they point the beams down a bit, so I can have my legs waxed (so that they can match my new radiation bikini line!)

Hugs

Constructive things to do during radiation

Chemo takes around 5 hours. I attend each session with a few videos, a book and a stack of magazines. Recently, I've also been taking Ativan, which mostly puts me to sleep and makes the time pass more quickly.

You could start a journal about this experience. Or do some fiction writing. Or just take a nap. It's all up to you! Try to spend some of the time doing some visualization that you're getting well, though. Studies have shown that visualizatio helps.

Hope things are going well for you, Maria. I think of you often.
