Help It Itches!!!!

I am having a horrible time. My belly where my scar is ITCHES like crazy. I have taken benadryl 75 mg. and it still itches like crazy. What have other people used to stop it form itching??? It is completely closed so I was wondering if I could use like a benadryl cream on it or a cortizone cream on it to stop the itching? I know I will call the doc to make sure but if someone could tell me what they used it would be very helpfull. I feel like I have hives or the CHICKEN POX there. HELPPPPPPPPPP!!!! And to top it all of when I do itch it it HURTS like CRAZY! HELP!!!
Also it has been 12 days since my surgery. I had a TAH on July 15th and I still have big bruses on and around the pelvic bone and lower. Did anyone else have this and if so how long did it take for the bruses to go away? I also notice before the surgery and now even I am brusing like crazy and the slightest hit i bruse. I have been waking up and new bruses evryday on my legs and arms. They are werid looking too. They look like a 80 year old woman's bruse NO AFENSE TO ANYONE ON HERE. but they go from blue to purple to yellow then fade away you know the kind I am talking about. Is that normal? I am only 23 and I am brusing like that. Should I tell my doctor?

Help It Itches!!!!

Hi

Sorry can't help you with the itchy scar but before you put anything on it I'd definitely check with your doctor. I know there are things you can put on it but at 12 days I'd be real careful.

As to your bruising, that certainly doesn't sound right to me, not at your tender age. I had heaps of blue/black bruising around my incision area and in the pubic area but not on my arms or legs and certainly not waking up with it. That is not normal. Please contact your doctor about this immediately.

Take care.

itchyyyyyyy

Ya, I have this too..................
But I just had to go into see my Doc about it. It was all hives like, and red and had a discharge. It did not look infected, but I wanted to show it to them.

Doc said it was an allergic reaction to a topical thay use with the stich/staples. He had me use benadrl and difucan, for yeast inf.

Yes, you can get a yeast infection around the incision site. I had it very bad after my last c-s, all over my adbominal/incision site.

Anyway, this is what has happened to me. May be you should let your doc know what is going on.

I just walked in my docs office without calling in, 8 am fri. He seen me as soon as he walked in. He even said that it would be NO charge. Called it a incision ck. I walked out happy.

It is still itchy, but it is 80% better!!!!!!!!!!

OH ya, he also told me to run water over it , but not into incision, to flush the med away, when in the shower.

Hope this helps, but I am glad I seen the Doc about it.

Help It Itches!!!!

If you decide to use an ice pack... I recommend the long "headache" headband kind. It fits around my tummy perfectly. See your doctor about the other stuff!

Help It Itches!!!!

I agree with the other ladies about seeing your doctor again. The itching COULD be just the area healing, mine is starting to itch as well.

About the brusing, definately talk to your doctor, that sounds to me like you might be anemic to be brusing so easily. Are you taking vitamins at all? I had huge brusing around the scar, and they did the same as you are talking about, go to yellow then go away. They are all gone now though and my surgery was the 15th of July.
