lumpectomy, left side...radiation finished in July 2002. Now I am wondering if the radiation has something to do with skin cancer. I had 1 out of 3 moles that came back as Atypical. Now they want to start taking off more. Dr told me that radiation can cause skin cancer. Have you heard anything like that before? I have heard of radiation burns before. Next Friday they are going to start taking off more moles and testing them.

Doubt it, YeeHaw

I doubt very much that radiation has anything to do with skin cancer. I've never heard of it. Don't think it would be used if that were the case. I tolerated it very well -- skin was just red and dry. Back to almost normal three - four weeks after treatments ended.

At the hospital, I was given very good booklet about radiation by the National Cancer Institute. NIH publication no. 01-2227. Have you ever called the NCI's Cancer Information Service at 1-800-4-CANCER ? I have a number of times. Good info. Very helpful there. You can call them and request that booklet if you're interested.
