Well the docs office called and said that the 21st was the earliest that they could get me in. My question is should I still keep the second opinion which is on the 19th?? Or should I go ahead and cancel it?? As of this point I have NOT canceled it yet. I am so confused right now.

I'm sorry you are going through this. I would think you could wait a bit and see how you feel before cancelling the 2nd opinion. I would also consider calling the 2nd opinion doc's office every couple days and checking in on cancellations. Believe me, in the summer especially, cancellations do happen.

Hi, Jane and thanks for your post. My opinion: I would keep the appointment on the 19th and would expect that the doctor could very quickly give me his/her opinion before the surgery. Who knows? In this way, if the second opinion concurs with that of your primary doctor, then at least you'll go into sugery knowing that this is the best approach for you. I know that would help me both pre-op and post-op.
Good luck and God bless.

Agree With First Two Posters
Think carefully before canceling--I'd keep the appointment. You can state you're going to surgery in two days but so wanted the app't you came anyway. Do keep asking about cancelations and reminding the second opinion's office that the surgery is 8/21. He/she may confirm what your Dr. has said. Best wishes!

 s Jane
You have absolutely nothing to loose by keeping the appointment.
And still loads of time to cancel if you change your mind.
I hope you are able to relax some as you anticipate this surgery.
I think of you often. Hang in there.

First, I'm so, so sorry that you're having to go through this. My prayers are with you, and I know God will be by your side as you go through this.
Second, I'm with everyone else: Keep the appointment. Doctors sometimes do differ in opinion, but many of them just concur with the previous diagnosis/prescribed course of action. Thus, it's likely that you'll get peace of mind if nothing else -- and that's priceless. Or . . . if the doctor has some other brilliant idea in mind, then you'll have a choice.
For something like this, I really do believe two opinions are better than one. Keep pestering for a cancellation. Tell them that you're having major surgery on the 21st and really need that second opinion sooner. I can't imagine that a doctor wouldn't be willing to stay late to help you out. But maybe I'm just an optimist. :-)
Let us know how all this goes. We're all thinking of you! s!

Jane,
I've been thinking of you often. I will say an extra prayer on the 21st for sure. I think you should go ahead and see the other dr, it wouldn't hurt, plus it will give you peace of mind, and that's what counts most.
 's and ers to you...

Dear Jane,
I would definately keep the appointment on the 19h, although I am hoping and praying that they will see you before that! I think a second opinion will help you have peace of mind. I am praying for you ... that God gives you strength and peace during this time. Keep us posted!
