update on cyclical pain

Hi ladies

I just thought I'd give you an update....I think I finally found relief!

I had a TAH in June of 2002 for endo. I told the doctor I wanted to keep my ovaries if they looked fine...which they did. Other than surgery pain, I felt great after my surgery. I could tell that even though I was in pain from the surgery, my other pain was gone.........

That is, until my ovaries woke up. I remember at 3 weeks post-op, I had an incredible hot flash. The biggest one ever. I had been having them since I woke up from my surgery, but this was a big one. Then at 4 weeks, I started breaking out, my breasts became sore, and that same old ovarian pain started coming back. For about 2-3 months I could handle the pain. It was nothing compared to before my surgery....but I could tell it was getting worse.

I then made an appointment with my gyn. He came to the conclusion that it was all bladder related but I knew better. He put me on ditropan and asked me to come back a month later.

I went back a month later and told him I was no better. He decided to send me to a uro and to PT. PT did not help me, but the uro did. He put me on 4 different meds for my bladder and I noticed a difference within just a week or two(a difference in my IC symptoms)....BUT, my "ovarian" pain was still there and getting worse. There was a definate pattern to my pain.....coming on at the same time each month along with other pms type symptoms.

I was afraid to call my gyn because I felt like he gave up on me. At my last appointment with him he said "The urologist will let me know if I need to do anything more." Well, I took that as a "Don't call me, I'll call you." After going to my second uro appointment and being treated like dirt by the uro, I decided I have had enough of being messed around with!

Some of you may rememeber that in April, I wrote my gyn a letter. I explained my symptoms and told him I did not feel they were bladder related. I obviously got his attention and made him listen because he called me the day after I sent the letter!!!!! He put me on BCP's....Levlen....and told me to call back in a couple months with an update on how they were working. I called him back 2 1/2 months later and told him instead of having a cycle, I am now in pain almost every day!!! He changed my BCP's to Yasmin and I am feeling incredible!!!!!!! I have had about 3 days of pain since going on Yasmin a month and a half ago......that is so good compared to how I was on Levlen and compared to how I was before going on BCP's. I now have hardly any pain at all! I feel like a new woman! I finally found relief!

This just goes to show you that I was right and the doctor was wrong!!!!!!! I know my body and I knew that my cyclical pain was NOT bladder related! I am so happy that I have found almost 100% relief with my cyclical pain. I don't feel crazy anymore! I can enjoy life so much more!

Maybe this won't last forever, but I feel like I bought some time with my ovaries and will be able to keep them atleast for a while longer......maybe Yasmin will give me complete relief until I go into natural menopause.....whatever happens, I am so thankful that I am feeling good now.

Just had to share my story........

update on cyclical pain

(((pasdechat))) I am so glad to hear that the Yasmin has helped you. I have heard good things about it from other sisters too. You certainly deserve relief from that cyclical pain!

It's true, we women are the ones best able to know our own bodies.

-Linda
