Ok, this is stupid but.....

I figured I would start here because I would feel like an idiot going to the doctors. I have excruciating burning pain on the upper right side of my lip. When I touch it I could go thru the roof. No lump no swelling nothing. Just can't touch that area. Any thoughts?

((((Sweetie))))) So sorry you're in so much pain I'm afraid I don't have any input, other that it could be an insect bite (I know.. I'm reaching ) However, I do think that pain of that intensity, wherever it is, should be addressed by a doctor.

Please keep us posted: you've piqued my curiosity

I agree with Dany, if it is that painful you definetly should give your a call. An insect bite is a good possibility, or maybe a cancor sore???? Do let us know what the diagnosis is.

Maybe something in the neurological line....shingles???? Definitely see your doctor and don't worry about feeling an idiot. Much better to be safe than sorry.

OK this is stupid but... UPDATE

So, I went to my doctor lastnight. She couldn't figure out what the problem is. There is no redness, no swelling nothing. Just PAIN!! She asked me if I am taking any new meds or vitamins. I told her my gyn had perscribed me Fosamax 70 mg last month. I told her that ever since I have been taking it I have been having more back and knee pain and on the day of taking Fosamax.. I have severe heartburn. So, she seems to think #1 that I should cut my pill in half and take half on Monday and the other on Friday to ease the heartburn. Also to take Tagament 2 hrs after I take the Fosamax. We are going to try this for a month. She also wants to see if it changes the burning pain sensation in my upper lip. If there is no changes in the in the lip area then we will go for furhter studies to see what is going on. Also, I have learned from her that there is now a shot you can get once every 3 months for severe osteoperosis. It is more expensive and some insurance doesn't cover it. But it doesn't have all the side effects like Fosamax and all the other drugs out there to treat osteoperosis.
So, the mystery continues. I guess I will have to see how this month goes. I just want to thank all you ladies for advice and listening and insisting on seeing my doctor. I really appreciate all of you and this site.

...just a thought..I wonder if you could be having some type of allergic reaction. It might be beneficail to consult with an allergist.

Another possibility is that it could be somethig that your dentist or an oral specialist could look at.

Hope you can find out what it is.

Thanks for the update Sorry you came out of the doctor's office with more questions than answers. Hopefully, changing the med dosage/combination will help.

Hopefully the change in meds will help. You don't know until you try. I've had to do alot of mixing, changing and matching of meds. It's always worth a try. Keep us posted.
