What are the Best Movies You've Ever Seen- Why?

Loved "Wuthering Heights", with Juliette Binocche and Ralph Fiennes ( every woman wants to be loved this much- brooding but romantic ).

"The Dish", with Sam Neill, and the guy who played Putty on Seinfeld. Funny Australian flick, about the satellite dish that carried the signal of the first moon landing.

"October Sky", a great story of a young aspiring rocket scientist. His Dad wants him to be a coal miner like himself. (Jake Gyllenhaal, and Chris Cooper).Based on a true story.

" Amelie ", a cute French flick, a bit of a fantasy, lots of fun.

"Benny and Joon", for Johnny Depp fans, also "Edward Scissorhands ".

Also, the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. ( Viggo Mortensen! )

What are the Best Movies You've Ever Seen- Why?

No particular order....

The Color Purple (such perseverance)

Jaws - (Mama took me and my best friend to this movie when we were about 12 y.o....it was the scariest thing we had ever seen!)

Close Encounters of the Third Kind
(can you tell I love Richard Dreyfuss movies? lol)

The Lion King (such a beautiful movie...majestically enchanting!)

Gone With the wind (of course)

It's A Wonderful Life ( I cry everytime!)

Snow White (the detail in this animation is awesome)

O Brother where Art Thou (I love bluegrass! I believe I have kinfolks like this....LOL)

Hook (with Robin Williams - this is such a good family movie...well written.)

Most any movie with Tom Hanks....one of the best actors ever born....in my humble opinion. lol

Can I mention one more???? "Bambi" *sniff...this one makes me cry to. Thumper & Flower are soooooo cute!

What are the Best Movies You've Ever Seen- Why?

Oh wow, anything that makes me cry - I like a good weepie - all the old hollywood Black and white films and anything based on real life. I like to get my emotions going be they sad, angry or elated:

Wuthering Heights (the Laurence Olivier and Merle Oberon version from1937 - goodness, I even called my cat Heathcliff)

Braveheart - Although historically flawed it's brilliant. I'm Scottish so maybe a wee bit biased on this one...

Bridget Jones - can't wait for No2 version to come out

Shrek 1 (haven't seen No2 yet)

Calamity Jane (I don't know why)

The Wizard of Oz (We don't get tornado's where I'm from - or witches and munchkins for that matter...)

Four Weddings and a Funeral (no, I do not like Hugh Grant)

To kill a Mockingbird (or anything else with Gregory Peck)

Moonlight Mile (My discovery of Jake Gyllenhal...)

Romeo and Juliet (and never was there a story of so much woe
than of Juliet and her Romeo)

The Color Purple (so so sad)

and favourite all time is a French double-bill
Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources. Tragic oh I could cry just thinking of it.

Talking - What are the Best Movies You've Ever Seen- Why? Becky's Top Faves

My all time fave is "Lawrence of Arabia"- a true epic in every sense of the word. The film that changed my life and made me love the movies.

Also: "Amadeus"- great script, acting, costumes and art direction. Just a very wonderful entertaining film

"Being John Malkovich" loopy and fascinating

"This is Spinal Tap" I think it's my fave comedy- I even saw the "Band" play live at Bimbo's night club in San Francisco! Talk about life imitating art!
