What are the Best Movies You've Ever Seen- Why?

Off the top of my head, Hmmm.

For starters, these are favorites on my post-op viewing list...

It's A Wonderful Life...mostly because Jimmy Stewart and I are share the same home town, Indiana, PA, and my dad worked after school at his dad's hardware store. But also, in spite of the sappy story and corny humor. it reminds me that, despite any evidence to the contrary, we touch each others' lives in profound ways.

Some Like It Hot...a very funny story about 2 nightclub musicians who witness the St. Valentine's Day Massacre in Chicago and spend the rest of the movie hiding out from the gangsters in an all-girl orchestra in Miami Beach! Marilyn Monroe's performance is brilliant! And the young versions of Tony Curtis(saxophone player) and Jack Lemmon(playing as he calls it 'bull fiddle') *in drag no less!* still crack me up after all these years. It was the first movie I ever bought.

*Anything* with Sean Connery in it. Forty-some years after James Bond, and even in his full kilt & regalia, I could still eat him on a cracker!

Monsters, Inc....favorite scenes: when teeny little Boo is chasing after Sully and calling him "Kitty!"; and when Mike puts in his contact *lens*. The out takes during the ending credits are pretty cool, too.

Antz...with ***** Allen's character on the psychiatrists 'leaf', revealing that his problems all come from being the middle kid in a family of 5 million.

The Star Wars series...they're like comic books on the big screen.

Indiana Jones And The Last Crusade...Harrison Ford *and* Sean Connery...two fantasys for the cost of one! What a deal! Now, where did I put my crackers.....

*Any* old sci-fi movie with cheezy special effects that were state of the art at the time the film was made (or not, either way). If it's made in Japan I will set my alarm clock to wake me up to watch, when necessary! My motto: The only thing better than a 4 star sci-fi movie is a NO star sci-fi movie.

<looks over list again>

It's a start...

Lizzok
(surgery scheduled for 09.07)
(recently finished third panic attack of the day)
(thinks she'll go watch one of these movies for awhile!)

Great thread!

I am a movie addict, but some of my all time faves are:

To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar
One of the funniest movies I've ever seen, great music too

Forest Gump
I saw this 4 times at the movies and saw something new each time

Titanic
The song, the boat sinking, it was Sooo sad

Princess Bride
Classic in our house, Andre the Giant was great!

Steel Magnolias
My 23 yo DD knows every line in this movie by heart! She says I look like the Sally Field character

Wuthering Heights, the original
The heather , the moors, the everlasting love

To Kill a Mockingbird
Saw this again recently and forgot how much I loved this classic and Gregory Peck

There are so many more I cannot think of right now.

Yep! Sure do! LOL

Paint Your Wagon -wonderful musical comedy!
The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

I loved both of the "Young Gun" movies. Especially the 2nd one.
I watched it sooooooo much that I knew just about the whole movie word for word! LOL - she said, "You use to make me hotter than a June bride sitting bareback on an old depot stove, but I don't share my bed with the law." - & he replies...."And I don't keep with *****s no more, so ain't we both content?"

Argh!!!! Makes me want to watch it! Isn't that corny?!?!?

Well, I liked _Blazing Saddles_ . Despite some very offensive humour that still makes me cringe to think about.

Madeline Kahn, you are sorely missed!

I liked the Young Guns movies too. I also really liked Silverado.

Marian Paroo -- Blazing Saddles was a little too over the top for me but I agree about Madeline Kahn. What a talented lady.

Now this one embarrasses me-- my favorite all time western is
El Dorado with James Caan, Robert Mitchum and John Wayne.
