Hello:

I am certainly glad that I found this site. The information provided has been an excellent guide for me through pre and post-op. I had a TVH on 7-11-2003, with no complications and was released the next day.

I thought I'd bounce back in the second week like superwoman (something I think men expect of us). However, the second week I was up doing things I shouldn't have done, and it has set me back with additonal pain and discharge. I was experiencing pain where my ovaries lay. My doctor prescribed me a vaginal creme and told me to douche with a beta-dyne solution, and told me to stay down and take it easy! I am feeling better and the uglies are subsiding.

My gripe with this whole recovery process is MEN have NO CLUE! My husband waited on me the first day home and called me each day thereafter from work to see how I was feeling. While I appreciated the calls...the laundry didn't get done...it was like he was recovering too, he wasn't much help.

I talked with my boss last week telling him that I was ready to come back to work and since my conversation with him, I had my set back. I honestly believe the guy doesn't believe that I am in pain and discomfort and that it shouldn't take this long to recover.

Question: How can I convince my husband and my boss that this was MAJOR surgery that it may take longer to heal, that this surgery was not just a root canal?

I think men (who have never had children) have no clue!! They also have no sympathy. I am really angry because in my good moments (I maintain a fulltime job, household, and care for our 2 young girls) I can perform every task my husband does, aside from changing the oil AND STILL KEEP UP.

My favorite thought is...every women needs a man who can perform like a wife. Wouldn't we all be much happier?

Thanks for the support, you all are great beings.

Hi Virginia One of the most effective ways many of us have 'helped' others in our lives to 'get a clue' is to send them to www.pelvicfloor.com ... there they can see very graphic images of what exactly is done in a TVH. It's not for the squeamish, but it definitely gets the point across. One picture is worth a thousand words!

I hope it works for you.

Thank you Linda for the website! It had a great deal of information and was almost painful to view.

My hope is that my husband and boss (to whom I sent the link) will also feel my pain and realize the severity of the proceedure. They'd of never survived getting out of bed post-op let alone the op.

Thanks again.
