Carboplatin (Paraplatin)

Hi Everybody

Has anyone experienced hearing deterioration after receiving this Chemotherapy drug. Have any of you been warned about possible hearing damage or loss prior to treatment?

Would love to hear of any knowledge or experence of this side effect.

yes, it's seems 'normal'

I know that it can cause ringing in the ears (don't answer, no one is ever there, lol) and you can have a slight loss... I think mostly tones. Are they checking your hearing? Here in Holland every week they do it when I have chemo. Last time they said I had some hearing loss... it's not noticable though. (fingers crossed)

I've had taxol/carbo for 6 treatments and higher dose carbo for 8 treatments and haven't had hearing loss--but I know this is a possible side effect of the platinum drugs. Be sure you mention it to your Dr. Cisplatin is more noted for hearing loss than carbo.

Carboplatin (Paraplatin)

Hi Brenda..

I had 6 treatmenst of Taxol and Carboplatin. I did not experience any hearing loss and truthfully, that was not one of the side effects that my doctor used to ask about. However, I guess that anything can be possible.

Please contact your doctor.
