The Climara Patch

Hello to all my sisters out there!! I am a 40 year old with a long and complicated 22 year history of reproductive surgeries...a veteran so to speak. I finally "qualified" for my LAVH this year and am currently just under 3 weeks post op. The first week was hideous....the second was not the most pleasant either but the light nearing the end of the tunnel was within view.....today is a good day. I think that the older you get, the harder any surgical procedure is on our bodies.
I have been prescribed a estrogen patch....great concept...love the idea of how it works but cannot get the darn thing to adhere properly. Is anyone else having this problem?? I am not applying any type lotion, etc. before applying my new little buddy. I have not yet experienced complications that indicate that it may not be working properly....I'm not wigging out or crying uncontrollably... I would really like to continue this method of getting estrogen as I am a self admitted "non-compliant" person when it comes to pills....Please let me know if you have suggestions and thanks in advance!

The Climara Patch

I, too, had the same problem. My doctor prescribed a name brand, the Vivelle Dot, but my pharmacist gave me the off brand, which did not stay on. But I talked to my pharmacist and told her my Dr. wanted me on the Vivelle Dot, and she accomodated me. You might want to tell your Dr. about this, it is very annoying.

The Climara Patch

Hi pk1962....

My dr. put me on the climara patch too - haven't really had any difficulties getting it to stay on, I take the old one off before getting in the shower and put the new one on immediately after toweling off..... it has seemed to work pretty good. The only complaint I have about the darn things is the edges catch all manner of lint/dust/dirt, etc making it look "yucky" within a matter of a few hours. My favorite nightgown is midcalf length and unfortunately black, which tends to deposit "stuff" around the edges of the patch. My dr.'s comment was put it on the backside and don't look !!!! So helpful, huh? Anywho, I know it's clean, dh knows it's clean - so..... oh well.... better the patch than being a raving lunatic without the hormones, lol.

The Climara Patch

My climara patch does the same thing around the edges, but seems to stick ok. I know I've read lots of threads from people who can't get that thing to stick. Try running a search on Climara patch and see what pops up. I seems like most ladies who had that problem switched to the Vivelle Dot.

Cindy, does your patch seem to last all week for you? I think mine is running out of steam by day 5 or 6. I have had a few teary outbursts right before it was time to change it, and I seem to have more vaginal dryness a day or two before changing time. Does this mean I should think about trying out Vivelle Dot, too? Any ideas out there?

The Climara Patch

Hi I responded back a couple of weeks ago about my patch not sticking.I was on the estragel generic for clamara I called the pharmaceutical company and complained about it they gave me the clamara patch free of charge.

I have had it on for 5 days now and only had the edges come loose and had it wrinkled in the middle but I took someones advice and used the blow dryer on it and it was liked it shrunk wraped right to my behind.I agree it does collect lent and fuzz but it sticks. My doctor also gave me a prescription for the v-dot but so far the clamara is working great.
