12 days Post Op w/binder & Tummy Tuck/TAH question

Hi Princesses

I had a TAH/TT on July 28, 2003 and I have reading as many pre and post op questions about TT along with TAH/SAH. And I have a few questions and they are as follows:

How many of you have been told/informed prior to surgery by their PS about wearing a binder after surgery to help with a swelly belly?

How many of you since your surgery have been wearing a binder and how has it helped or hindered in your recovery?

Thank you for your time sisters. May God continue to bless, protect and heal all of you.

Remember to rest, rest, rest

The subject came up. I am thin and my DR told me that would not be something I would need.

12 days Post Op with Tummy Tuck/TAH question

Dear Drea,

I too had a Tummy Tuck. My doc fit me with a pressure garment (girdle) that fit from the top of my knees to my waist. It has made walking straight, coughing, laughing, getting up and down wonderful. It has also helped with the swelly belly,,, i'm sure because I really haven't had anything huge to worry about. I will say that I have a love hate thing going on with this garment. But doc wants me to wear it for 6 weeks. She has all her abdominal surgeries wear a garment. Matter of fact they put it on me in surgery... I couldn't imagine them putting it on me and really didn't want to picture it... YIKES It is pretty tight.... Anyway I hope this helps... Deb

Same thing with me. I was told to wear "belly band" 24/7 for 3 weeks then 12 hrs per day for 3 weeks. It has REALLY helped with the swelling and also helps me to stand straight and helps with coughing etc. My hyst and TT was July 28. I needed the TT because of a large amount of weight loss. I'm real satisfied with the results so far. The band is a wonderful thing

Good luck
