Another Chemical Reaction to HRT lost my speech

Okay so I start the premarine 0.3 the lowest dose possible this morning. (Friday) As you know I am already on Topamax 300 mg. I had a chemical reaction back in June and it was a really bad reaction. I got sucidal, couldn't comprend things and couldn't stand from the dizziness.

Well I took my dose this morning (Friday) at 8:00 am and by 10:00 I could barely stand from the dizziness. If I was standing and trying to read I couldn't focus. Then my speech started to slurr. Then I started having trouble putting my words together. As the day went on it seemed to settle but it has acted up again and my speech has slowed down.

The doctor is given me 8 hours if this has not stopped then off the pharmacist is worried that its dangerous to me. I am frustrated to no end. I have come to the conclusion that I will have to live in menopause hell for the next 30 years and my family hates me the way I am now. I regret ever having the surgeries. I should have just lived the rest of my life in pain. It seems my health won't clear up regardless. I want normalcy.

So It had cleared by that evening. I go ahead and try another pill. BIG MISTAKE!!!! I have lost most of speech now. my speech is totally slowed dow and slurred and stammered. I am unable to put thought to words. The words I want to put out half the time won't come out. It is affecting me neuologically. I went and seen my pharmacist in person to let him see this mess they were floored. they also question wherther theres a possibility of an allergy here too. I was in church tonight and ran into a friend and a nurse who works in womens health and with my gyn and she said the same thing that this seem s to be an allergy to the HRT . When I reread the Pharmacy write up speech problems feel under allergies and plus this interaction with the darn Topamax. The pharmacy is going to be preparning the papers for the drug makers to sent off to Health Canada and FDA again.

Sunday:
This has been my worst nightmare come true. I have lost my speech. I now know what ists like to have a sever speech impediment. I am in tears. the reacation to the HRT has been cruel. It has soared my topamax level. Every word that comes out of my mouth is an effort and it stammered and I have to think what I want to say and then at times it doesn't come out right. I have some dizzy spells worse when I close my eyes. I feel like a truck has hit me. I came home and cried my speech of all places. Oh my God what else is going to happen.

I am going to be looking for a good herbalist. If any of you who happen to be from St. John's, NF and are reading this and know of someone I would appreciate a recommendation. I have had it with HRT it is too risky now.

All this mess has gotton me really down.

Another Chemical Reaction to HRT lost my speech

Hi Denise:

OMG it sounds like you are having a terrible time! I'm not familiar with your history, but just thought I would let you know that I do not react well to premarin either. I recently went on the Clamara patch and I'm loving it. I was taking estrace, but not feeling all that well, better, but not where I wanted to be. Dr. wanted to put me on premarin and I told him I had tried it and didn't do well on it. He told me it could be because I'm allergic to horses! Well I've never been around horses, so I don't know! What is topomax? I was put on premarin right after surgery, and 4 weeks later I was feeling horrible on it. So I stopped. Hit rock bottom about 6 weeks later. Everytime I tried to get on something it freaked me out, so I would stop. I got suicidal also, but was from lack of hormones. The problem with me was I needed more estrogen then what I was taking, would feel good for a bit after I took it, then it would wear off really fast and I would hit rock bottom. All the doc's thought the estrogen was making me depressed. Finally I got on paxil for anxiety and depression, while I was on the paxil I slowly introduced the estrogen, and worked my way up to 2mg of estrace a day. Was on the paxil for 6 months, stopped, and I've been doing pretty good since. Have you tried other forms of estrogen? There are so many out there. I know the hell you're going through because I have been there too. My heart goes out to you Denise! Don't give up! There is something out there for you. Like I said I don't know your history, what you have tried, what you haven't tried. I'm just hoping your not with a doctor, who only wants to give you premarin. Have you tried the patch? Wow there's so much more I could say to you, but his is turning into a book lol! E-mail me if you like! There's so much more I could tell you!

Big Hugs Denise!

Another Chemical Reaction to HRT lost my speech

Hi Ann;

I have tried Cimara. Had a really sever reaction to that also. I went sucidal on that I went delusional. I couldn't comprehend things when people spoke to me or wouldn't remenber when people spoke to me just 2 minutes prior. I was so dizzy that I could focus.

The problem is that it is interacting with the topamax. Topamax is an anti sezure drug that they also use to treat Bi polar. I take 300 mg a day.

It was shone in really rare case in the drug trials to have interactions with estodial I think its call. In all the cases I think only 10 showed like mine. Yeah I had to have one with all my luck. My speech is still not back. It was doing good but as I got tired or frustrated it worsen as the day went on. they think it may be an allergy to something in the HRT and just to rule things out I now have to see a neurologist to make sure that it wasn't a stroke I had the weekend. Yes things have been tought and as I say gone beyond a bad joke now. I will keep the sisters up dated on this mess.

(((Denise)))
A good neurologist or perhaps a brain specialist is a good idea. I am taking Psychology this semester in school and I remember reading about your situation, where the brain quits functioning in a certain hemisphere and it can affect your speach or your writing or ....

JMHO but I think you need a specialist to find out why the hormones are affecting you in this way. I have not heard of someone losing their speech because of hormones.

Keep us posted!

Denise, I am so glad to hear that you will be seeing a neurologist to rule out stroke. When I read your post just now, my first
thought was, could it be a stroke? I hope you were able to receive immediate attention from the dr. since this could be a
serious situation. If you or anyone else ever experiences this,
I would strongly consider going to the ER immediately. There is some medication today that if taken immediately, it can help
reduce the stroke effects.
